sub/amp install

Featured Replies

hi all, Im looking for some help in running my amp/sub power cable into the car.

Was trying to get the glove box out for a look around but could not work out how to remove it.

my cars a 2013 skoda fabia monte carlo

Be prepared for some bruising :)

There's a blanking grommet on the passenger side in the rain tray that leads to behind the glovebox. I didn't take the glovebox out but it's pretty fiddly behind there and the grommet leads directly behind some rubber insulation/sound-deadening material, so you kind of have to fold it down and wiggle the wire past from the engine bay.

Took me about 20 minutes of trial and error but saved having to take the whole car apart!

Good luck!

Thanks for the fast reply, is there any chance you could take a picture of the rain tray? as am not sure on the location.

Can anyone  point the rain tray out to me? As am planing on doing this on Monday. Thanks

Will try and take a couple of pics later for you. The rain try is basically the bit at the back if the engine bay just under the windscreen. If you follow the bonnet release cable back toward the windscreen you'll see it goes past some sponge/plastic into the "rain tray" area...

Here you go (picture should be attached to this message).

The plastic/rubber area where you see the red cable going (top right hand corner of the picture) is the right-hand end of the rain tray cover.

Ideally you'd remove this, but I couldn't get the windscreen wipers off without serious brute force and didn't want to damage anything. I managed to lift the plastic just enough to get a torch in there, and get my hand in far enough to remove the blanking grommet I found, replace it with a new rubber grommet and then pass the power cable through.

Best of luck!
