  1. Mine 2012 Superb Kombi 1.6TDI has 425 000km on the clock and just recentlyI changed timing belt+water pump. Oli change every max 10 000km and engine still running smootly! I’m in Nordic region with proper four seasons. Rust is an issue, but prevenitve bodyceare will help to stop this process.
  2. @medward20000 , here is link of struts which I bought recently: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008703450334.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.44.62b41802CVbenw From EU and delivery time is relatively short. I don´t know whether there is some limitation with UK, but there are plenty of similar price range struts in Aliexpress.
  3. Time has passed and after many repairs of the struts I decided to save some time and order new struts from china (Aliexpress). They work well even in rough nordic conditions with heavy snow and rain. So worth to consider these cheap 100€/each struts, rather downgrading them to normal gas struts.
  4. Big speakers will fail every now and then, I just changed passenger side one and now driver side has stopped working. Most likely due to the age they will fail. I have premium sound system.
  5. Faulty door wire loom. Mine does similar thing and most likely door wires are broken.
  6. Superb 1.6TDI: 5 speed manual is with single mass flywheel - longlasting and clutch needs replacement with high mileage 6 speed manual is with dual mass flywheel - typical problems, like rattle noise etc
  7. In my oppinion repair set is the best solution for this problem. You need to remove also door card, to get better access to current wire loom and change the whole with repair set. Ok, I understand that this is not OEM, but still better than 10 times repaired broken wires. Metzger repair set can be ordered here: https://www.autodoc.co.uk/metzger/9337569
  8. There is only one working solution, open them and repair them to last long time. I have made video about repair process: There is no way to maintain struts, without opening them.
  9. I have made many years ago video of tow bar installation process. Here you can get ideas.
  10. In my video you can see OEM part number of the camera, 56D827566A. Quick search from the Aliexpress: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mOhbTAG
  11. I heated this tube quite a while, almost in the point as tube started to melt or burn, but still I quit before making any damage to the plastic. Turn tube upside down is very good plan, as both sides should be identical. I had quite powerful heat gun (not hair dryer) and therefore it took max 3-4 minutes. Whit rusty springs boot operates once in a while and very many users have underlined potential issue with hall sensor or strut wire connection. Still most of the time the main reason is failing springs, so this repair should be made as preventative measure to extend the life of the strut. Once you have made new spring and properly sealed all this, should be lifelong solution.
  12. Good to hear, if it is helpful. I strongly suggest to repair both of them, as they will anyways fail sooner than later.
  13. VAG group panoramic roof is pain in the *ss in many ways. Jammed draining tubes, factory glued adhesive results heavy water leakage etc. In your case I assume that gear which operates roof window is cracked and there is no other solution than new frame (1-2000€) or as my friend did, just glued glass to frame with adhesive enternally, meaning there is no operation any more, just glass roof. Removing panoramic roof fuse when temperature will get below 1-2 degrees Celsius should be mandatory for each car owner in order to save a bit life of this stupid piece of engineering.
  14. Or repair them as I did (for less than 150-200SEK).
  15. I had similar job done recently, 1.6TDI with DSG, but non-4x4. 2.0 should be in the same range. Labour was 200€, but in addition to flywheel change this cost contained also EGR and thermostat change. LUK flywheel was 325€. So as you see, it depends on region and country where you are located. I’m from Estonia.
