Not sure if I've mentioned my mate's Ultima...

... But by backing off all the downforce, he managed to hit the elusive 200 a little while back. Not quite the 220 it was geared for, but bearing in mind concerns over breaking grip, it's not a bad effort.

Not bad for a road legal "home made" car

I'll try and find some pictures from the outside in a mo

Nice

I bet that gets him noticed.

Wow, pure drivers car that! Looks ace

Good old Bruntingthorpe. What's the spec of the LS7 in the Ultima? Quite a popular engine to shove into something that doesn't normally have a V8 rumble. I love how simple the dash is in that Ultima too.

The fastest I've ever been in a car is in an R35 GTR. ~180mph from a standing start in a mile. Felt like it was doing 70mph. Amazing piece of kit.

It ain't a stealth Citigo, that's for sure ;-)

To be honest, it spends a lot of time being "prepared" (read "fixed"), and when it is on the road it has to be driven very carefully. With more torque than a Veyron, a lot less weight and only 2 wheel drive, it relies on aerodynamics for traction. in the wet/slippery conditions he needs to be north of 120 before he can accelerate hard for fear or spinning, and that doesn't work well on the road.

On the first attempt at the 200 (a few months earlier) he discovered some quirks of the mapping; in particular that there was no tickover mapped in above 150mph. As there's so much torque, lifting off causes the back to lock up in the wet, so the clutch has to be dipped when braking.

At 190-odd, the engine just stopped so the brake servo started running out of puff and it was necessary to bump start the engine to get the brakes working again...

Not exactly sure but I think it's 7 litre. And then supercharged of course. Circa 850bhp if memory serves.

"Sufficient"

This gives more of an idea of the engine bay:

And I'll put this one in just as there's some Skoda content!
