Audi S1 BRIEF REVIEW in Autocar and Autoexpress today.

2014 Audi S1, Part Time AWD and Manual, 3 or 5 door 231ps.

2015 Mini Cooper S Works, or just Cooper S 3 or 5 doors.

Manual or Auto but Front Wheel Drive.

Renault Clio RS Trophy 220, 5 door automated manual.

Audi S3 or VW R, Latest or previous models bought used,

3 or 5 Door door with Manual or Auto (dsg) and part time AWD.

Surely the serious competition to an Audi S1 comes from the Volkswagen Group when someone

wants drive to the front and rear in a Hot Hatch format.

unless you what a front wheel drive or rear with under 250 bhp.

Then there are BMW's, Fiats, Fords, Nissans, Peugeots, Citroens, Alfa Romeos, etc for under £25,000 new.

PS

Checkout the RRP on an Audi 1.4 TSI 150 ps Manual or Auto 3 door or 5 door Sportback.

Hardly possible to sell the likes of the S1 for less when they cost so much.

?

Where is the 2015 A1 192 ps 1.8TSI 3 or 5 door in the UK.

Are they worried they will sell badly like the S1 or 2015 Polo GTI and not bringing them to the UK?

Current Cheapest on Audi Used website :http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-car-locator/a1/2.0-tfsi-quattro-231ps/bridgend/604841326-35135.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ £21k (3dr)

Quite a few as ex-demo cars in the mid £21k area.

66 in total on used (3dr and sportback) ,so are they now selling more with deals and realistic prices being asked and indeed word of mouth of owners.

Cheapest sold within 2 weeks - so perhaps the market has found it's level.

I note at my friends Audi dealership ,they had a "bee coloured " highish spec S1 priced at £28.5 K .Held their price  for approx. 2 month. Now advertised at £24.5k.

So will it sell at that or how long before it hits the £21.5k level ?

My gut feel tells me the market is ripe for a Hot Seat Ibiza or Fabia mk3 @ circa £17.5k  > £21.5 k competing with the Polo GTI, Fiesta ST etc.

There seems to have been a fair few Audi S1 registered in the UK in Q1 & Q2, no idea about now in Q3,

but any Dealer sitting with 64 Plate S1 might well be having to accept less than they are asking for them now when there is the 65 plate out at the end of the month.

Just a pity they are manuals only.

Current cheapest S1 Sportback on Audi used website £21000 :http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-car-locator/a1/2.0-tfsi-231ps-quattro/humberston/605108460-21258.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_

S1 came out quite well in the TOP GEAR Mag hot hatch tests, in the Sept 2015 edition. Got into top 6 from 28 .

Dealer prices however are still to high imo, averaing approx., 26k

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/long-term-tests/audi/audi-s1-sportback-2014-long-term-test-review/

Interesting sort of comparison Polo GTI, Knocked out in 1st cut in the same TOP GEAR article.

Looks like a pre-reg.

Or used:http://usedcars.volkswagen.co.uk/Polo/1.8-TSI-GTI-192-PS-5-Dr/Blackpool/4098337-605211367-123221.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_

So today the S1 sportback at Grimsby dealer is further reduced to £20k - more like it.http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-car-locator/a1/2.0-tfsi-231ps-

quattro/humberston/605108460-21258.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_

Perhaps Audi ,VW etc. will be more realistic with used sales prices(margins) to improve cash flow, whilst still dealing with the emissions recovery plan.

I apologize in advance but what is the point of this thread?

Why is it being kept alive with updates on used S1 ad's and is the Fabia II the right section for a thread of this intention?

These are honest questions and I don't mean (or bother) to start a fight or anything, just really curious why I see it popping on top every now and then while there's not really a discussion going on.

An overpriced car now showing some signs of some sensible used prices at last for a fun project base . As mentioned previous above. £19680 but a bit high mileage and a probably thrashed demo/used .

My initial reason for putting in the mk2 section was the negative announcement by Skoda CEO by the dropping of the Fabia vRS and prior to VW GTI 1.8. or Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8.coming on the seen. Going from a £17k package to a £25k base.

Hope that clarifies a little.

Looking forward to some common sense at Skoda soon ,for a mk3 vRS ( whatever)

You don't really mean that an S1 could be the base of a fun or tuning project, do you? Anyone interested in the previous generation of the 2.0 TFSI engine (or simply TSI in VW, Seat and Skoda) will surely look for a much cheaper Golf GTI or Leon FR/Cupra with the same engine-turbo combo. Makes absolutely no sense to go for a slightly heavier, overpriced, premium model like the S1, with the unnecessary (for most) 4wd quattro system, as the basis of such a project.

Which brings me to the second point, it being that although the A1 is in the Fabia class in general, the S1 2.0lt engine-gearbox combo is much closer to the Golf/Leon platforms than the Fabia so I still don't see how much it relates with the Fabia variants.

That been said, If you think that pimping this thread every now and then is going to change Skoda's mind about making an mk3 vRS, hey, I won't stop you. At least it's clearer for me now.

New or used cracking package but a bit overpriced with toys.

£24k to £30k ,3dr or 5dr?

Or one of these:

Okay no auto option on the S1

Which would you prefer?

why is this in the Fabia MK2 section????

:S

It's not anymore!

Shame that this thread had been such an irritation to 3 of you!!??

Pathetic reaction by one individual imo.

john999boy you could have had the manners to PM me before you have verbalized and taken a pitiful action for 2 other.

I wonder how many other member might just take some interest in the S1.

I believe the B33fy might have started another thread relating to the potential of an S1 Project.

Thanks for the communication Super M.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

Unless you'd not realised, it was in the wrong section!

It may not have been when you started it but (maybe) due to new sections etc, it ended up not being. Also, as it had been in the Fabia 2 section for quite a while, I did actually leave a link there for people who may have been following it and weren't subscribed to the thread. I'd also like to point out that the move wasn't as a result of any report so maybe a calmer reaction might have been a better approach?

If this explanation still isn't to your satisfaction then I suggest you continue by PM.

errr calm down FFS!!..............

I was perusing the Fabia MK2 section when I noticed that for what ever reason technical or otherwise this thread was in that said section

I thought it I would bring it to the attention of a mod who would be able to re-post/move this thread to the more relevant section that is "general car chat".............

Shame the missus wanted a DSG (Polo GTI) starting to like these as a 2nd set of wheels option.

Only secured with a good spec and at sensible money.

However, will be sad to see her Fabia vRS MK2 go in March (approx.)

This would do!

Coming soon to an Audi dealer near you? Early 2017,or is  Autocar speculation: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2017-audi-rs1-rival-mini-john-cooper-works

Think a member, Jose'DB, tweaked his S1 to about 285 bhp before he chopped it in for his RS3 , I recall that he was pretty impressed with it.
