My Citigo has recently clocked up it's 10,000th mile. Thought it would be a good time to share my thoughts.

 

So far, so good.  Picked it up (ex-demo) in July 2012, it's a Silver Elegance Greentech 60ps. 

 

It delveloped a cracking noise somewhere in the vicinity of the rear left of the car, it was fixed by Farmer's in Leicester by tightening some trim.

 

It makes a number of other noises, such as clattering around the 2,000 rev mark, all of which i have ignored.  Very occassionally (about once a month) it is difficult to select first or reverse gear.

 

The PID is a bit hit and miss, bluetooth hands free is patchy, and the unit benefits from a reboot or two every now and then.

 

I am a little perturbed by the lack of soundproofing, loose chippings sound like rocks slamming into the car, makes me whince for the poor thing, wet roads sound like rivers, but this is kind of fun.

 

Apart from that, it's been a great ownership experience so far. Whatever the conditions, including a couple of drives in near-monsoon conditions, the Citigo has been a wonderful travellling companion.  Consistent, reliable and unflappable.  I knew it would be good around town, but it never ceases to surprise me on the motorway, being a relaxed and comfortable cruiser.  Everybody who has travelled in it likes it and finds it comfortable, with the heated seats proving very popular over the two winters i've had it.

 

Economy is great too, and renewing my road tax (£0) was the first time i had done this and walked out of the post office with a smile on my face!

Thanks for sharing your experiences. We pick up ours next month so I am braced for the devilish racket when driving on loose wet stones!

Being mostly for urban use (London) I don't suppose we'll be driving up too many gravelled drives

I have just clocked up 10,000 miles in my Mii and would echo the above.

 

It does make some quite worrying noises when stones or branches hit the wheel arches but I'm used to it now.

 

It still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it - it's like a little go kart in town, and great fun on twisty country roads. But as noted above I continue to be surprised at how "solid" it feels on the motorway. It may take its time getting to 70, but once there it is amazingly refined for such a small car and inspires confidence.

 

And the ridiculous running costs are just the icing on the cake!

Yes, how good they are on the motorway was a major surprise to me.

I should think compared to cars of yesteryear like the Mini (Original) that was made in to late 1990's, the Citigo must be very quiet when going over rough surfaces or gravel drives etc....

Can any one make a comparison with the Mini (original) to the Citigo?

The Mini, there is only one really, was noisy, uncomfortable and a brilliant bit of kit. There really isn't a comparison you can make, the Citigo and the Mini are from totally different eras. From memory there was so much road noise from a Mini that a bit of gravel didn't make a lot of difference.
