The mrs and I haven't really got on with the Scirocco to be honest. Looked at a Golf R and the S3 and decided on the S3. Drove the S3 today in s-tronic guise and it was fecking awesome. Materials felt good, quality was as good as ever with Audi even for a '3.

The S3 deal I got was only slightly more than the Golf R and I am Audi man so the order was placed.

Got a good deal on the 'Rocco as well.

Bloody nippy and good MPG as well. Makes the RS 5 feel very sleepy but thats forced induction for you. The between 30-70 is probably as quick as the RS. At 80 it did start to run out of puff though compared to the V8 beast.

Everyone at Audi was telling me to try the S3 as I would love it, I shrugged it off as I had the '5. Turns out they were right.

It's so useable and fun. Not as raw and aggressive as the RS but still very quick and very capable.

I'm looking at April for a normal a3 saloon and that was placed in December.

I'd quite like a new one but can't really justify the expense 

when I drive the older one I have already so little. 

I'd lose so much dosh on the depreciation it makes me shudder.

Better to stick with what I have I think and instead am getting

operation Direct Access underway this year.

That way I get to go faster and  for much less money

I picked a car that already had a build slot and spec amended it. I always do this to avoid waiting.

Well it's only a normal A3 not an S2, but it should have:

 

 - Xenon Light Package

 - Comfort Package (Std Cruise and Std rear sensors, but you can turn the display on with VCDS)

 - TPMS (Although I found you can now turn this on with VCDS, so we shall see if that stays)

 - Luggage Pack

 - Shiraz Red Paint

 - SD Sat Nav

 - Folding Mirrors

 - Electric Lumbar Supports

 

I decided against leather and the alcantera as the black cloth seats are quite nice anyway.

That plus Alcantera is hard to keep looking good when I'll be virtually living in the car and leather requires heated seats (IMHO).

I think I might look at getting a smaller car when changing. Most of my miles are around town now & not sure the S4 is not the best fit for me, it needs to stretch its legs more.

I might wait for the RS3. Reckon that could be a very nice car.

End of 2015 looks likely. I will order probably but for now the S3 is a cracking little car.

Just added B&O, non smoking pack and interior light pack. Also found out heated seats are standard. Unlike the RS 4/5.

I noticed with the S3 they are actually starting to give you some spec now, rather than force you to pay for basic stuff cars costing under £20k get.

Which is great as it's less to add on, then lose in depreciation.

Actually drove mine today & actually realised what a great city car it is

Very (very) nippy, not too bad for parking.

Got all the shopping in, picked up all my passengers.
