Is it just me or does the white s3 look like an estate?

its a Sportback so 5 doors, longer, wider with more rear cabin and boot space so more mini estate than hatchback I guess.

The rear cabin space and boot are both tiny in comparison to the octavia, but the engine is a peach

Yep, this is what puts me off the Sportback. I don't want three doors, but I don't want a stretched car that looks like an estate and drives differently to the three door version! Call me old fashioned but I want a normal sized car with a couple of extra doors.

The Sportback does not look like an estate car IMO. They just look like a normal 5 door hatchback, not long enough for an estate.

For me it likes a slightly smaller version of my old S4 avant.
