rear view mirror fell off

Featured Replies

I knocked off my rear view mirror ,Has  anyone on here done it?  and how do I get it back on?  There is a metal bit that sticks to the window,

Does it come apart?

It's a push-twist fit onto the metal part attached to the glass AFAIK. Push the mirror on and twist.

Sorry can't help with that, the original fitted mirror in my felicia is bonded to the screen so it must be a different type to yours.

Ahh, I was assuming it was the same as on my old MkI Toledo. Arm bonded onto the screen and the mirror housing would twist back on but if the bond on the arm has failed then I don't know.

I roughened up the base of the mirror mounting arm with wet and dry and then just glued it back on with Araldite.  I taped the arm to the windscreen using electricians tape and left it for 24 hrs.  Hasn't fallen off yet!

Glad you found an answer. The answered button helps other users in this forum to locate a solution. Just a tip that I've found very helpful.

But on the subject of rear view mirrors:  Think Italian, red and sexy motoring, "What is behind me, is of no concern" LOL

Many years ago loctite did a sort of ancient superglue that cured with sunlight. Specially designed for rear view mirrors. I used it once, many years ago ( on a maxi- so that's how old) ,but it worked .

Used the Loctite stuff, tiny tube for £3, comes with some gauze that  activates the "glue", Worked great, bonded in about a minute, Stuck like a lollypop, to Tulisa..............
