Hello from Canada!

Featured Replies

 Just bought me a 1986 Skoda 120 GLS for $50CDN So about 20Euros. I'm gonna be doing a full restoration on it. And when its done im gonna put a much more powerful motor in it. Then perhaps put some subs under the hood.

The first thing I am going to do however is put a decal across the back and frontwindow saying "THE JUNK IS IN THE TRUNK"

Hope you guys can help me out lots since I am only aware of one other Skoda in canada and its on the other side of the country from me. :thumbdwn:

:D I am so excited. I am picking up the ol girl this weekend! lol anyways thats my story! Ill post pictures up or something when I get her. She is in really rough shape!

welcome aboard m8.im sure you will find lots of people on here 2 help u.

Cool dude! Like that movie 'Herbie, Fully loaded', only it's a Skoda. Stick in a 300bhp motor and make everyones' jaws fall to the floor wondering 'What the hell was that??'

Welcome to Briskoda dude.

hi and welcome :wavey:

Welcome to Briskoda  I guess that Skodas must be as rare as hen's teeth that side of the pond. You will probably have to source most of the spares for your 120 from here (or continental Europe). Search around the site - there are a couple of links to second-hand suppliers (Skospares, JHM Butt, etc.).

A '92 Eagle Talon, eh? Does it have the Diamond Star 1.8 turbo engine? Perhaps you could transplant it into your Skoda 120; a number of people over here have done a similar job with the VAG 1.8 turbo (as fitted to some models of the Skoda Octavia).

Welcome from me too. :)

Wow , an old Skoda in Canada.

Good luck with the restoration :D

That sounds great! All the best. Lewis

Thanks for the warm welcome. I know its not as nice as the Octavia's Fabia's Felicia's Combi's or even the pick up's and yatta yatta. But it holds a special place in my heart because I am the first person in my entire family to be born in Canada. And when I would go back to Sao Miguel, well my grandparents owned a Skoda 120GLS and I always rode in it. It was also the first vehicle I drove in Europe. Well technically The Azores Islands. But that is still Europe. So this is why I purchased the 67HP Skoda 120GLS with a 0-100km/h time of 22 seconds!

Welcome!

I've love to hear the story of how the car ended up in Canada! Whereabouts are you?

Cheers, Phil

Thunder Bay, Ontario

Roughly a 19 hour drive northwest of Toronto.

SkoCar used to import Skoda's into Canda. When Volkswagen bought Skoda. They stopped shipping causing SkoCar to go bankrupt.

Now it is damn near impossible to find parts for the old girls.

As soon as I get the car in my possesion and get the VIN number. Ill give you a thorough history on the car! :)

Welcome!

My girlfriend lives in Sault Ste Marie, i have never been upto Thunder Bay though she does have some relatives who live there :D

I have thought to myself if ever i were to emigrate it would be fun to take the skoda to Canada..it would be unique, and maybe get it serviced by VW...but anyway who can predict the future?!

Good luck!

Welcome,

Is your 120GLS, trailing or semi trailing rear suspension, 4 or 5 speed, steering box or rack? though the later trailing type handles better still had loads of fun with my 120LE.

I believe yours probably will be a 4 speed, semi trailing with a steering rack, the GLS was a top trim model took over from the LSE models from the mk1 Estelle.
