Is there anyone who has bought one of the ElsaWin DVD offerrings seen all over ebay? Presumably they are illegal copies? Is there an alternative?

 

Do they work? I don't expect strong technical support from people who are selling bent software?

 

Is ElsaWIN any good? I sort of get the feeling that it might be very comprehensive without being very 'helpful'?

I got one for £10 and have used it a few times, but it takes ages to load and needs you to enter lots of car details before you can get anywhere.

I bought a copy off Ebay a few years ago. The setup guide mentioned something about 'do not tick this box otherwise it will try to update and won't work'. Smelled iffy. Then as Graham says, it took a long time to load and wanted a lot of details.

 

What exactly do you want it for? If it's for part numbers, try Vagcat forums or Skodateilecatalog.

I think I want it ready for surprises. Nothing is wrong yet! Torque settings, and sensible guidance about what needs to be removed in what order. Basically, I want a Haynes book.

VAG workshop manuals that the dealers use. Basically any copy on eBay is not genuine.

I don't know how much it really costs but I doubt you could get a legit copy for a tenner.

A kosher way to get access to the manuals is to go to the Erwin website and pay for access.

Mine isn't a legit copy, although I was led to believe it was!
