Found a car - that will be a no then!

Featured Replies

Yep. I can't leave anything std, so I tend to do brakes & suspension first, then rims, then map, then exhaust.

Thing is a mapped 170CR should make 210bhp anyway!!

The PD is a little more agricultural, but it's simple mechanical technology. And the noise doesn't bother me either.

The wheels are 8.5x18 et25's - std fitment on the 90's SL's

The blue PD "approved" one at £9000 is my favourite, but it's 411 miles away from me, next the Russo PD & then the black PD.

Favourite CR is the grey one on Luna's.

Just for you bud!

  • I noticed that too :-)Masses of room in Superb estate version (got power boot too). Saloon version is ok too, if dog is happy ... Lowering, wheels and a remap? Then u need the Superb V6 4x4 260bhp!

  • Good point!   Svend did me a favour and went to look at the silver one. I've been and seen the Russo one (i'm going back to look at it again on Saturday too) The mileage doesnt put me off & the

  • Had a vw Touran last time - hated it. No more people carriers for me. Will extend my search to estates as well.

Thats good to know if I need anyone to give it the once over!

I would be looking at a 170 in elegance spec

Miles wouldnt bother me

Not having all the kit would

Good luck choosing though mate, like you said, a lot better cars with the improved budget

Like the DRL's, like the Columbus, like the full leather, would prefer a 170CR, Would Prefer manual. Not bothered about miles either!

^ this.

That would be my approach as well. Whereabouts are all the other options? Stick the location with each one if you can, and see if we can get a Briskoda searching collective setup :)

Ok - i'll sort out updated information on each picture when I get home tonight (I like the 170 Elegance in grey on Luna's with 109K on the clock @ £8,195)

Like all of them. They are on my watch list too.

First one I'm still waiting for a reply from the seller

2nd one I've been in touch with them, the won't move it to the closer dealer - it's in Hull 228 miles from me

3rd is over the budget

4th it's an SE - would prefer an elegance.

Thanks for your help too.

I think your original find looks fine, I thinks it's good value. It's clean, has a good spec and of course you can negotiate on price a little can't you. Aim for £500-1000 off, I negotiated £750 off to get mine. I agree the Octavia vRS estate is wonderful but price is more due to it being newer and actually the Superb will give you everything you need and more and I'm sorry but the boot is cavernous and will take all your kit and more.

I've got 57 on my auto trader watch list, I've viewed 11 of them. I'm just still hunting.

See what I mean about being much better cars in the new budget!!!

I would be looking at a 170 in elegance spec

Hmm, I went the other way.

I sacrificed spec for younger / lower mileage, the reason being I cover high mileage and keep my cars 'until death do us part'.

Columbus, 18's and bi-xenon's would be nice, but long term reliability were more important for me, especially after coming out of a duff Octavia vRS.

I went for an SE in the end, two years old, 14,000 miles - £12,500.

I added a HID kit into the projectors, bought a top spec TomTom and constantly think about 18's* :giggle:

* alloy wheel diameter, not the female variety!

Got a tip off on an FL Octavia VRS estate with the 170cr & manual. Thought I'd give it a look.

Turned it down - 120k, overspray on all rear panels (rear door shuts, door edges, boot lid, bumper, exhaust back box, both tail lights, rear window), all 4 wheels badly kerbed, smashed foglight, leather on backseat scratched & damaged, engine management light on and felt underpowered on the test driver. They offered me £4000 on mine & £3500 cash to pay for it.

Still hunting then!!!

At the risk of upsetting Octavia owners everywhere, I would say go for the Superb

Ive had 2 mk2 Octy vRS's and a PD Sport

None of them felt as special to drive as the Superb does

Its in a different league!

Still like Octys dont get me wrong, great cars

I just think the Superb feels like a different class of car altogether.

I would keep searching for a 170 elegance if I were you

It's cool. It was within the budget, so thought I'd go check it out. No harm

Yep worth a look. Explains the price then, as that looked cheap.

Cheap for a reason though, bah!

Just had a call from Dunfermline Skoda main dealers - they have just got in a Russo SE 4x4 170 with 45k on the clock for £10,995. See what it's like

Thats not bad price what year

It's a 2009

Hi everyone, new to the forum so will be asking for help and advice like polon1600i.

I'm in the same boat as you, looking for a decent car, can tell you the fourth one, light blue 4x4 SE, had overspray down the near side rear wing and door, overspray on the tyre, masking tape residue on the rear light cluster and masking tape still in the boot, also rust around the rear boot/hatch striker plate. Drove OK but that was my first drive in one so nothing to compare it with really, still looking, budget of around 10k, would like an elegance estate, preferably 4x4 and preferably auto/DSG, with less than 60,000 miles, yes I know I am unlikely to get this but am prepared to wait for the right one!

Also does the oil pump on the 2.0 turbo diesel fail in the same way as on audis?

Cheers

Thanks for the heads up on the 4x4.

Just been hunting locally - found this:-

1 owner, reverse sensors, electric sunroof, full history.

I could buy that just with my savings, sell the jetta and the parts. Work to paying off old loan, then once that's done, trade the Vrs in or sell it & Then move onto a Superb this time next year.
