  • I noticed that too :-)Masses of room in Superb estate version (got power boot too). Saloon version is ok too, if dog is happy ... Lowering, wheels and a remap? Then u need the Superb V6 4x4 260bhp!

  • Good point!   Svend did me a favour and went to look at the silver one. I've been and seen the Russo one (i'm going back to look at it again on Saturday too) The mileage doesnt put me off & the

  • Had a vw Touran last time - hated it. No more people carriers for me. Will extend my search to estates as well.

I know!! I love the lines of the estate. But the estates in my budget are all a long way off, or have intergalactic miles

Elegance estate in maroon is on autotrader for under 9k, DSG 140 though.

  • Author

I'm starting to feel the 140's - better mpg, mapped will still make 180bhp.

Not sure about DSG.

DSG suits the Superb I think - more relaxed character. I'd certainly try one out if you can.

Where are you upto with that 2010 with 98k at £8990?

Just in discussion with dealer at the moment about finance, trade in & deposits. Not heard back yet.

I'm off to try our new pram in the back of a Superb twindoor & estate. See how much space we have in each. I would love an estate, but our limit is about £10k, so may have to go with a hatch to start with and trade up in a few years.

Ok so just back from trying this:-

into both an estate and a twin door.

The chassis in the boot of the estate takes half the space up, leaving half left for the dog.

The chassis in the boot of the twin door fits too. Half the boot width taken up, leaving half for the dog.

Need to find a good shaped cage now, but think ill stick to a twin door. Means I can get a newer lower mileage car than equivalent estate.

Nice wheels. Are those 10" anthracite rims on the back?

Like your testing. It only leaves my original concern - available comfortable height for the dog as he won't be able to move much in the Twindoor, once in transit?

I've just come back in the door from seeing a good friend who has an octavia hatchback, he has 2 labrador's in the boot of it in a double cage. I think the 1/2 size of his cage will fit well in the Superb. Our dog doesn't travel well anyway, she lies down and sleeps almost all the trip. Trying to find a picture of his cage to show what I mean.

Also just realised when I got home - that the wheels actually come off and the pram folds smaller than I thought!!!

This is the half cage in the back of a Superb estate.

Manufacturers website says it's also good for Octavia & Superb hatch.

This was the estate I look at today - £12500, 4 mismatched tyres, scratches down to the metal, looks like a sales rep is currently living in it. So think that's a no again!!! Am I too picky??

Nope, don't compromise on your requirements. Just the issue of 2nd hand motors, and previous owners not looking after them properly!

Always like the 'very good condition' / 'excellent' condition descriptions - must been sellers have VASTLY different meanings of those words to me....

Something is still tempting me back to the £6000 one which is local to me. It has high miles, needs tyres (more than enough wheels in the shed that would fit & have good tyres on) needs some general TLC. But it's got a full history & timing belt and water pump has been done. It's just kind of honest & a little unloved!!

A hell of a lot of car for that money, and you have a bit of budget to make improvements

I've heard worse ideas :D

He offered me £4500 for my jetta (considering I only paid £5750 for it 18 months ago ain't too bad) so only need to find about £1500 (or less if I negotiate) then put on new tyres, get it serviced, lowered & a remap. Would mean I can just keep it for 3-5 years and upgrade to a newer one later!!

Twin door

2.0 diesel

6 speed manual

Luna 18" alloys

82k on the clock

Full skoda history

Towbar

Private plate. (Previous owners initials)

Garage bought it from local Skoda dealers.

Advertised in a few places - needs 2 tyres, mot & timing belt/waterpump. But asked about taking as it sits just now, gave me an excellent price on it. But won't take my jetta as a trade in due to value/mods etc.

So need to find some more £££ or sell the jetta first.

Bodywork looks good. Love the Luna wheels - one of the nicer wheels offered on the Superb and would suit the car also if you're going to lower it.  I see its a very early 140 presumably a PD?  Wonder has it done a lot of towing, is the clutch ok?  Hope the deal works for you,  you've certainly been putting in the effort!

Tints too!

It is a pd140. The car went into a local main dealer for a service, was told that it would need 2 tyres and the waterpump & timing belt done. So instead of getting the work done, he traded it in for a new one.

Price discussed is £800 less than advertised if I take it as it's sits, or £6995 with all the work done. It's at a dealers in Carlisle. Any one close by that could take a look at it?? It's 160 miles away which isn't as bad as a few other. But still a waste afternoon if I go and look and it's not as described!!!

Put up a thread to see if anyone free to view it on my behalf

I'm in Carlisle and know where this dealer is. I can pop out tomorrow or friday if you wish.

  • Author

A few pm's sent - thanks to everyone who has mentioned they maybe free to view it for me.

Looks good :) Hope the car is in good nick! It looks like you've looked at plenty of Superbs!

Looks good price. What spec is it?
