Present for reaching 1000 miles

Featured Replies

Well my car (VRS hatch) just ticked over the 1000 mile mark and when I left work last night a kind person has left it a present. They must have known it had reached this milestone...the wa£&@/r. Happens quite a lot to our work unfortunately.

They will be pluggable so should only cost a tenner or so from Kwikfit. Be thankful that (if it was deliberate) someone didn't key your car instead.

Some deliberately doing that to tires??? The dirty fk*ERS!

Unfortunately so. I'm the 12th in a couple of months. Along with about 5 or 6 having their wheel nuts loosened. ....

That's quite near the edge of the tyre though.....

Is there no CCTV?

You would have thought so...but it doesn't cover the whole insecure parking area unfortunately.

New tyre.......get it plugged ........or hmmmmm upgrade to some Xtremes while I'm at it....

I'm pretty confident that won't be repairable but switching to even more expensive 19's when it'll probably happen again isn't wise..... Maybe a new job should be on the cards?

I had a vulcanised repair done to a tyre that was deemed unrepairable with a plug a few years ago. Worked fine and had no issues. Not many places do it though. Cost me about £6.

I'll have a check And see if it can be fixed. Been looking at a set of Xtremes for a while ...I just can't help but think it will then need lowering.

As for a new job....not quite that simple unfortunately.

it looks to be more than 3/4" from the side so should be ok

Do you have a spare to fit temporarily ? Not driving on the affected tyre will minimise the chance of any additional run-flat damage.

National do free puncture repairs - I got a puncture in a similar place repaired recently.

You just pay for the valve and balancing (usually around a tenner) - voucher here : http://www.national.co.uk/special-offers-puncture.aspx

If you want to suss whether it's repairable or not before going in, there's some useful info here : http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyres/punctures

Obviously don't know your work circumstances, but your employer needs to take note if this is happening on their property & probably by another employee. If an accident happened because of it & someone was injured or God Forbid was killed they & the idiot(s) doing it could end up facing serious criminal charges.

The tyre looks like it will plug. I had a similar a while back & the tyre place plugged & vulcanised it. Seemed like standard practice for them.

Unfortunately it's not their car park. We are not aloud to park in the yard as it's nowhere near big enough. We park out the front but that's in a council controlled parking rasa directly outside where I work.

Kind of an occupational hazard unfortunately

Result. They managed to plug it so that saved me some cash...however as a result of my money saving, and maybe a couple of steins of lager last night I managed to spend £150 on cleanyourcar....whoops
