Straight through exhaust!

Featured Replies

Hi this is my first post! So hello everybody!

My question is:

I have just purchased an 04 fabia vrs wich is brilliant! However! The previous owner has had a power flow straight through exhaust installed on the car.

I hate this, it is too loud for me just going to and from work and I really just want a stock or slightly sporty tone.

How would I go about reversing this? Do I need a whole new stock system? Cat mufflers etc?

I would gladly swap with somebody on here for free so long as they paid labour to get them switched!

Any thoughts???

I'm in Nottingham!

You could go to an exhaust company and get a silencer fitted to lower the noise made.

You could also do a swap for a standard system, this might be best if your not after any noise from the car.

Exactly what you need to swap would depend on how much of the standard exhaust has been removed when power flow made the exhaust. Could be a cat back or a turbo back system.

If possible, it may be a good idea to get some pics up then we know what your working with.

Hi there, and welcome.

She Who Must Be Obeyed (SWMBO) has a vRS with a stainless Milltek exhaust on it, which is nice and quiet, although slightly noisier than standard. The bonus is, being stainless, that once it's fitted you don't really need to worry about ever replacing it.

I'm just off J28 of the M1 so if you're coming up this way, let me know as I'd be happy for you to see and hear her car as a bit of a baseline to work from.

Ah I'll have to have a look tonight then. I'm just at 27 so that would be great! Really love the car but it's sounds like a jet engine on idle! Can't imagine my neighbors like it at 6am that much either!

I'll post some pics later.

Thanks for the fast replies!

Is that outside, or have you only listened to it from inside? Turbo engines, particularly diesels, tend to be quiet running compared with non-turbos because the turbo takes energy out of the exhaust gases. Accordingly, if you've only heard the engine/exhaust "noisy" when you're in the car, I'm wondering if the issue is actually that the system is making contact with the bodywork and what you need is to re-hang the system rather than replace it.

Both outside and inside. It's not too bad before the turbo but as soon as the turbo kicks in it sounds like a tractor on acid.

Where are you from?

As id like to possibly swap with you

Are you sure the exhaust isn't decatted? Because i have a custom straight through with the cat still in place and mines not that loud :S

100% had it on the ramp yesterday.

It's a pipe from the engine and out the back.

Thanks

Did you get some photos?

Did you get some photos?

I didn't no, but I did manage to get it up on a ramp.

It is a power flow system, de-cat and all the way to the turbo. It's one pipe so possibly going to be a PITA to remove.

Get a cat put in and won't be loud at all :)
