Just Bought a VRS (All i can see is problems on here) Should i be worried?

Featured Replies

I wouldn't waste your money on extended warrenty from skoda,as they are bad enough not wanting to do work when the car is still covered by standard warrenty from my experience

And why do we hope he got a warrenty - you are flat out trying to worry him

If the car has had a new engine and you can confirm to him that all the problems ceased at that point and there are no ongoing issues with oil consumption then he can relax and not worry at all. Especially so if he has the backup of an extended warranty.

I don't think George was intending to provoke any anxiety - we just want him to have fun in his new motor :-)

And Skoda actually called me today it needs the hearted seat elements changing, and I tried the warrenty with the alloys and they went having any of it

TC Harrison in Derby just gave me the service book and owners manual, the did not mention at all about a replacement engine even though i did ask if any warranty work has been done , the only thing they mentioned was a cracked fog light that I replaced for £39 from Skoda. so if the heated seat element needs changing can i have this done?. the seats seem fine, no warmer than my old polo Gti ones ?

so was the car ok after the new engine ? like i say it seems spot on but now i am a little worried

Tc harrison you need to call and tell them you want all the paper work I handed over, service receipts etc I even gave them the original book woth all the options ticked.

Ring your local skoda and ask them to look it up its just the elements they have 're called it just needs to go in for a day

Joe.... if it all works now, don't stress :) I have done over 65,000 miles in these cars.. faultlessly :)

Dont worry,   But is it a Skoda Approved Used car with a 12 month Warranty,  or just a Used car with the remainder of the Skoda Warranty?

The Reason the Service book is important, & writing up the Engine change and service interval,

is because you do not know when the Engine went in,

So 'dave_l',  can maybe tell, how many miles ago,?

& did they fit new spark plugs with the new engine or use the old ones. Is it the Original Air filter still in?

Just saves the new owner wasting money,

because the Skoda Computer says the Minor 3 year service is due shortly.

Are the New Engine Numbers on the V5, changed by the Garage that fitted the Engine or by you?

Or was the replacement engine stamped with the Original Engine Numbers?

Im not stressing i am trying to get an idea of whats gone on.

i have contacted TC Harrision FORD dealers an told them that i wasn't happy that not all the papers dave handed in was given to me. they are looking into this for me. the said it has skoda warranty till march and further warranty by them for 3 months.

also i just contacted SKODA Sheffield who were very helpful, they told me to pop down they will replace the heated seat elements and give the car a full inspection and sort out or replace anything that is a warranty item.

also looking on DAVE's post, he posted on here saying the turbo was making a squealing noise was this sorted ?

Ask Skoda UK Customer Services  to Email the Complete Warranty History and Invoices for all parts the car has had,

or reported by the Dealers has had..

With things like the Turbo,

it is Important to know if you got a New Engine off the Line or a Recondition Factory Unit,

You want to know if the Belt was new on the Engine now in the car, or Just some Base Engine and everything swapped over.

Did it get a new Cat.

(It is the Supercharger Drive Belt.)

If you are buying a Keeper it is just for your information,

if you want to sell again at some point, then someone might want to know.

It is not a Worry, but it is important to some, because they see the ones going through auctions cheap that are dogs.

& some Dealers now selling Lemons.

I have only filled up twice since buying the car 3 weeks back 700 mile i achieved on 2 tanks average 39.4 MPG is that decent ? i have been using Shell V power Nitro is that any good?,

also the wheel badges seem fine, on 3 alloys it has started corroding around the lip and on the other most of the face is now started.

I plan to service the car next month, waiting for pay day :).

I will take out a warranty I think with skoda for 2 years

Glad to see another vrs owner on here, welcome!

I would say take you car on its own merrit and try not worry about the oil issues reported, I did a very similar thing to you and started reading more after I'd committed to buy and got all worried and thought omg what have I done!!

Like George, I would recommend Tesco momentum 99 or shell v power, I've tried Bp ultimate but ultimately its just expensive pond water at 97ron in my opinion and the car didn't like it.

Your mpg is amazing though!!! I did a trip lastnight to see a friend and only managed 13.2 mpg over 22 miles, have seen up to 44+ mpg though on a more sensible run.

Enjoy it!!!!
