"Check Safelock!" warning on display

Featured Replies

Can someone save me digging in the handbook and tell me why I get this warning on the MFD each time I switch off the engine? Cheers.

It's to remind you that if you leave someone in the car and you lock it, they might not be able to get out as the deadlocks will be applied.

Thanks Kenny.

...the warning will always appear then I guess.

Yes, it cannot to switched off.

If you don't want to deadlock just double click the remote with 2 seconds and it will lock with deadlocks.

Thanks mate.

Think my owners manual says it's the other way around in the Rapid, deadlocks are set by default but you have to press lock twice if you don't want it to be on. I think it disables the internal PIR for the alarm system as well.

Page 33 of the online manual

It appears every time on mine I thought it was to say that while the car is moving (or engine running at trafic lights etc)  the doors cannot be opened from the outside, and whenthe car has stopped (with engine off) the doors can be opened from the outside. As in an extra safety thing.  If you want to lock the doors when your sat in car with the engine off then press the lock switch below the air con switches.  Do not lock the car with the romote as if you make the slightest movement all the alarms will set off.

You can turn the alam off (if lets say you leave a dog in the car) by pressing the switch nect to the drivers door (bottom of B frame)

You learn to ignore it. I'd completely forgotten about it after 2 months until my brother asked me what it meant :)

It often makes me believe I must be doing something wrong!

It'll lock without deadlocks if you do this and disable interior monitoring of the alarm.

Yes sorry, I meant "without deadlocks" at the end there.

I bought vrs and it shows me from the first day. No one knows exactly how to switch it off

Neither did mine.

I thought it as to remind you that if you are getting towed, you have to push the button on the center pillar next to the driver, to avoid the tilt alarm going off.

Mine does it. I thought I'd done something wrong first few days I got it. Just got used to it now. Saying goodnight to me with a *bing bong* that or its screaming at me for leaving the lights on. :P

My Fabia does it every time I kill the engine. Annoying...

My 2020 Karoq says the same.

I have looked in the directory at the rear of the manual and the index at the front! ------ No safelock to be found.

Glat the car outperforms the quality of the manual!
