Mazda equivalent to Briskoda?

Featured Replies

As we now own a Mazda 5, I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a Brisky equivalent for Mazdas?

Briskazda?

Rotary enginged Mazda? Wa~nkazda

Briskazda?

Every little helps!

I believe there is an MX-5 forum (not as good as this one though). But do to know about general Mazda forums.

There's a couple of mazda 6 and mazda 3 forums that get a little traffic but the actual mazda 5 forum gets none. All of them are inferior to Briskoda of course!

Careful, glass houses and all that.

You do drive a Skoda.

Yes, I know, the bombproof VW reliability that wipes the floor with pretty much everything else on the market.

Really??? I loved all four of my skodas but they were nowhere near the most reliable cars I've owned.

Skoda are good for reliability, don't get me wrong, but compared to the Japanese?

The Verso we had was utter carp. Build quality was shocking.

Toyota breaks recall, steering recall, software update for 3rd gen Prius, this: http://www.nbcnews.com/business/autos/toyota-recalls-885-000-vehicles-over-airbag-problem-f8C11414211

This from Honda http://www.ibtimes.com/honda-recall-2013-japanese-automaker-recalls-18000-cars-full-list-vehicles-1305553

This from Nissan http://www.ibtimes.com/nissan-recall-2013-japanese-automaker-recalls-841000-cars-worldwide-full-list-affected-vehicles

I can see now that they are great cars, they really are top of the league: http://www.breakeryard.com/blog/japanese-cars-topping-recall-list/

Bits that only because Japanese aren't sacred to issue recalls and even so none of these are mazda. Perhaps you could respond to my post stating that I've owned 4 skodas and even though they were all brilliant cars none of them I would describe as ultra reliable, in fact even my French cars were more reliable.

"that's the queue for the replacement tsi engines over there sir"

I used mazda3forums.co.UK when I had my 3 but have also stuck with briskoda since smelly my last Octavia 6 years ago. No other car forum can touch briskoda.

Exactly. At least when Toyota's cars have a problem they have the balls to simply recall them all and fix them. VAG group just stick fingers in ears and ignore everyone.

Lucky man if that is your experience, certainly not my view.

I have owned a number of new cars since 1981 and the only one  that needed no work other than servicing and tyres was a Mazda 3. Bought new, covered 63,000 in 3 years and absolutely faultless running.

Here are the first things that Google throws up.

I am quite a big fan of Mazda I must say. Always had a soft spot for the rotary and its high pitched howl and the original MX 5 is fantastic. You only have to look at how many early models of that car are in daily use and good condition to see how good Mazda build quality is. I have not tried it yet but I hear the new Skyactiv Diesel is a cracker too.

A work colleague had a 2.2 diesel Mazda 6 as a company car, 140K in three years and no major issues at all, one recurring problem was binding brakes, this is a common issue apparently as Mazda told him, it just meant every service the brakes got a strip down too so all was good.

Am I correct in assuming Mazda have a sort of business relationship with Ford?  The Mazda 6 = Mondeo, Mazda 3 = Focus?   I could be wrong but I heard or read something about technology sharing somewhere.

Yeah that's right James, they share collaborative information amongst one another, but that's not uncommon for other manufacturers too, I think ford even use Mazda light bulbs in thier factories....

Ford Fiazda.

Ford and Mazda have now gone their separate ways so the sharing days are pretty much over. As for forums, there's not many if any that are as good as Briskoda.

Yep, all the Skyactiv Mazdas are built on their own platform, rather than Fords. There's no such thing as a manufacturer of reliable cars. There may be individual reliable cars, maybe some generally reliable models, but every manufacturer makes turkeys now and then. Having said that, I've been test driving a bunch of Japanese cars recently too...
