Octavia factory fitted options - suggestions?

Featured Replies

Will be ordering an Octavia Combi 1.6TDI shortly. Will be specifying the Canton audio upgrade and also the rough road package, but could anyone suggest any others that are worth having? Not looking to spend an additional fortune so ruling out stuff like leather seats and fancy headlights etc.

What spec is the Octy?  S, SE, Elegance?

Canton is a must.  I love the sound on it.

I'm in Ireland, it's the "Ambition" spec, which is the middle level - guessing it's the SE in UK language.

Instead of speccing up an ambition

Have you compared the differences between one and an Elegance?

You may get much better value for money that way.

Good point, bit I think the RRP and Canton should work out under €1k, though I can't find the Irish prices listed online, only UK ones - I'm not really interested in luxury trims etc, so Elegance may be bit of overkill for me. At moment am talking to several Irish dealers and they're not exactly falling over themselves for my business, times as a Skoda dealer must be good....

I think rear parking sensors are a must. I already regret that I didn't get the front sensors as well.

Other nice (and not too expensive) options:  front seat heating, "simply clever" package, floor lighting, 230V socket (if available), 3 spoke steering wheel

Music, floor lighting, 230v outlet WTF !

First you wanna get a spare wheel, cause a can of junk ain't gonna get you back on your way, you might for £50 like the boot nets, to keep all the bits where they shold be when you've been let say "a little exuberant" through the corners. If you've got kids, consider long and hard the Crew Protection, if there wasn't side airbags on the front I might not have but, the thought that the front occupants would be safe yet the kids in the back..... well, I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

All the above for just over the price of glinty paint obviously, its your choice just my tupennies worth though.

Regards

T

Prices and specs are online.

Elegance is only 1400/1500 more than ambition and much higher spec.

Cruise control and colour maxidot.

High beam assist is good as well, as well as the winter pack.

VBF is one of my favourite options and I like the 'colour' maxi; matches the central infomat system, oh and cruise also gets regular use.

You're right, I didn't realise it was only 1.5k more. I can only see these extras with the Elegance, the only one which would interest me is the parking sensor:-

Rear armrest

"CLIMATRONIC"" Dual-zone air conditioning with electronic

regulation, combifilter and AQS

Inside rear view mirror automatically dimming

Park distance control system - rear

Cruise control

"LIGHT ASSISTANT" with "DAY LIGHT", and rain sensor

Infotainment Radio "BOLERO" (5.8" colour display,

Touch screen)

So for my preferred options added to an Ambition:-

Parking sensor 393

RRP 181

Canton 540

Bolero 163 (think I need this for the Canton but not sure)

Mitsumi 45

Bluetooth 20

Footwell lights 14

Total €1356

Seems to make more sense. Btw the Irish "Ambition" spec looks to be somewhere between the UK S & SE.

Its funny, other markets might get the full options list but UK cars do get a very favourable standard spec compared to some.

Looking at the Irish 2.0 Elegance estate for instance doesnt come with Amundsen, high beam assist, folding mirrors, Alcantara/leather upholstery and probably a good few other things....nearly 24k in GBP as well

I bought a local Ambition spec and pumped it up with a number of options (there must have been a couple hundred to choose from, the policy here seems to be to give as much choice to the customer as possible).

Anyway, the one option that I miss not getting from the start is the SunSet tints. Agreed, that it doesn't serve a huge amount of function and it's one of the easiest options to add later on, but especially on the Combi, it transforms the overall look of the car. Just for your consideration.

I'll probably get the rear windows tinted at some point in the future.

And yes, I think you're right, I think you might need the Bolero both for Canton and for Mitsumi. At least that's what the dealers said in Estonia.

Edit:

Is cruise control really not included in the Irish Ambition? If so, that should definitely be another suggestion. Couldn't imagine buying a new car without it. :)

Its not included on UK spec SE trim either....that said SE spec cars come with Bolero, DAB, Bluetooth, 2 zone climate and rear sensors so dont think us folks can argue too much about a £180 to have cruise added.

Especially when its £350 to retrofit the cruise control
