  • I can't help with your query (lots of experience with both manual and auto boxes) but I would be very interested to hear on a weekly basis how you get on with your vRS over the next few months.   Th

  • Did you go for the optional pedal heaters?

  • the DSG will take a few journeys to adapt to your driving style.Do be patient with the DSG while it adapts, especially at the roundabout as the throttle response will be different to a manual.

I do I think..

gonna take car to the dealers.. to me.. the power isnt being delivered fast enough.. and alot less smooth than when I test drove it..

Did you test drive it in "S" and now using it in "D"?

That's a good idea mate. Even if they find nothing wrong it will give you some peace of mind. If you don't get it checked over you might always be wondering if something is up with it! :-)

I test drove it in "D" and I have been driving it in "D".. yet to try "S"...

Yeah.. Took it in today.. I said to the services team that I think the car isnt running as smooth (on pull aways etc) so 1 of the specialist mechanic? came out for a quick drive to see if it was driving as he would expect...

He said yes seems to be driving how he would expect..

But im sure the pull aways arent the same.. as in the test drive..

Say im driving.. then I stop.. (the car is stationary) then I take my foot completely off the break.. the car moves slightly forward then seems to be a lag in the pull away using the accelerator.. the power seems to take a while to build.. then it really goes.. but whilst that happens it just doesnt seem smooth.. or as smooth as I remember during the test drive..

The guy says theres nothing wrong..

But he noticed I was using both my left and right foot however I make sure.. I am not depressing both the brake and the accelerator at the same time.. but I will now be taking my left foot out of the equation and just using my right foot...

I think im gonna keep an eye on it.. they dont seem to want to do anything.. and u know how they can be.. If you dont insist they kinda fob you off... when deep down you know there isnt something quite right...

Annoying as ive only had the car 2days and I feel the excitement to drive it has slightly dropped...

It does sound OK, where there is not that little lag there can be wheel spin.

Foot off the brake across to the throttle and just be gentle until rolling a little.

If you do not have another vRS owner near to try your car,

maybe you try a Demonstrator someplace.

I would suggest you give  yourself time to get used to it.

Do not use both feet.

I only have one foot, and i can assure you one foot is enough.

'Brake'.

Haha still keep putting "break" dont I.. sorry.. funny thats the sort of thing I would notice in others posts haha...

That sounds like a good idea to see if someone around has a standard fabia vrs MKII like myself.. hmm wonder how I can request access to such a person.. any ideas mate??

Yeah I only used 2 feet the first time trying to pull away off the forecourt when I picked it up on monday... then during the trip out with the Skoda specialist.. I drove using just my right foot the whole time.. but then when pulling in and parking I strangely reverted to using left foot to brake.. thats a habit I have to get out of...

Hopefully someone will read this thread that is near you.

See if you can meet.

All the best, just drive and enjoy,

the car will mature in a few days.

Once you are on 99 ron, you might notice a difference.

I'm only near Winchester if you are ever down this way. Probably only a 20/30 minute drive if you are near the A34.

There often is a slight delay on take-up from stop in 1st gear, enough to sometimes feel clumsy and jerky. It might be something you've only picked up and are now really noticing having driven the car more than just a test drive.

I do think D mode makes the car feel much more sluggish than it can be, in general.

I really do not think he is describing that, which is a faulty car when that is happening.

The slight delay before it takes of and is in 2nd by 4 mph is i think what he means.

The box learns if you drive it.

it might be a delay.. like if I foresee that im gonna have to stop some ways ahead...il come off the accelerator.. so its dtopping down the gears.. then.. once I have braked to a stand still I release the break then slowly depress the acdelerator but it seems to be jerky.. I also find theres some sort of resistsnce or vibrations that I can feel from the sole of my right foot when using the accelerator..

Its an odd thing.. and I feel this also make the drive very bumpy..

Ive taken it into skod but they dont even seem to wanna look at it properly

I think your car is probably quite normal. The ride is quite poor/knobbly/unsettled by modern standards. DSG delay on pull-away is par for the course too although gets better as the miles go on. The development of "pulling to the left" and "oil use" are very common scenarios with these too although the majority are fine. "They all do that sir".

The new estate we have just bought also had slight vibration through the throttle pedal initially although this has now calmed down a lot now its got a few miles on.

The vRS is a cheap and cheerful pokey car but in many ways is off the pace and is certainly no premium product -you get what you pay for. To be honest it feels like a relic from yesteryear in many ways when I drive it after my 120d m-sport. This doesn't stop me enjoying it immensely tho - banging up and down the flappy paddle box, revving it out and chucking it down a windy b-road with the windows down on a sunny day still has an appeal :-)
