Aux-in Bluetooth receiver - Anyone use one?

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

If I get a Octy vRS soon, I understand it has, as standard, an aux-in jack socket in the jumbo box.

I thought it may be a good idea to get one of the mini Bluetooth receivers with a jack-output to enable me to link my iPhone without needing to run a cable. I see there are many different Bluetooth receivers that'd do the job - so my question is does anyone use one and hence have any feedback on how good it is?

I know they'll use a rechargeable battery, I just like the idea of being able to use my phone without an audio cable.

Cheers folks :)

Paul

Anyone use anything like this?

Hi,

I use one of these from amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009NLTW60/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I find it works very well indeed, call quality is pretty good (depending on where you mount the mic) and music streaming is great quality and being able to control it from the bluetooth unit is great. I paid £25 for it, but i notice it is OOS at the mo. Might be able to get it elsewhere. It is useful as it is 12v powered and has a pass-thru USB to plug in the phone charger when needed.

Much cheaper than a bluetooth head unit upgrade!

Thanks - looks like something I'm after although wanted to keep it all very hidden and out of sight. Can probably hide it all away though :)

Anybody use one of GROMs bluetooth adapters http://gromaudio.co.uk/ they appear quite cheap, but i can't seem to find out much detail.

Good find - I'd be interested to know more too, reading about the one above does show it has it's flaws so if this GROM unit is better id be interested for sure.

I use the jabra Freeway HD. Looks and sounds good too

Asked them direct about Amundsen Sat Nav and it wasn't compatible.

I have one of the Kinivo units now and am very impressed - works great! Just one thing they forgot; and that's a power switch. Means I have to keep disconnecting the adapter as don't want to run the battery flat.

That is the disadvantage with anything that uses the 12v socket - it's a shame that it isn't a switched socket to be honest.

Having said that, I often leave the Kinivo plugged in for days (or weeks) at a time with no battery issues at all, so it must draw hardly any power. If I know I won't be using the car for a couple of days or more I do tend to unplug it though.

I suppose it could be hardwired into a switched feed somewhere....

Glad you are pleased with it!
