Ford Fiesta ST

Featured Replies

As ever with new fords I'd be worried about the residuals tbh. Snaring a hefty discount might take the edge off, but then those discounts are being given out to all and sundry anyway. Fords make great used buys and awful new buys due to silly pricing and hilarious residuals. And don't get me started on the dealers. As a two ford owner I know there is nothing like the pain of having to deal with sales or servicing depts at ford dealers. It's a shame because the cars have generally proved reliable and very well put together IMO. Both my fords have been better built and more reliable than both my skodas.

putting some proper miles on it then? :D

I tried to get a go in one but the salesman was an idiot. "They sell themselves, you don't need a test drive to buy etc."

There's lots of cars that are easily better than Skoda vRS's. Just driving something similar but out of the Skoda bubble is an eyeopener.

Company leasing policy wouldn't allow ST (max CO2 of 120) but I do have 125bhp Titanium X on order as next lease car. Cracking engine, as comfortable as my Superb and ride/handling felt better on test drives. Will still do 0-60 in 9 seconds, fully loaded with toys and tech including part leather heated seats. bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing compared to ST, but is the second fastest fiesta you can buy

Its my plan B if my Octy VRS delivery date goes back any more ... Was just going to get a red ST-1 but will investigate the 2 and 3 if I go down that route.

Had a drive in an S3 and a performance pack GTI this week.

Both very capable cars, but neither is as much fun as the Fiesta ST.

Unless you prefer being able to go fast in any conditions over handling thrills.

What a cracking little car it is.  And for a sensible price too.

Just reading in EVO on a Tuner for the ST & taking it to 240bhp for £728.98 including VAT

Graham Goode Racing.

It says,

the GGR ST 240 package,

'Bins standard air intake and replaces with a High-Flow version & K&N Cone filter,

Superchips Tweaked ECU helps boost power to 240 bhp and torque to 253lb ft.'

This has been discussed on the Fiesta STOC and general concensus is that's it's bull.

There are no actual power gains, it's all "about".

The Mountune upgrade already changes the airbox and includes a remap, yet that only makes 215bhp.

25bhp is a lot to get from somewhere, changing the same parts.  So I think their estimations are a bit optimistic.

I was at the Ace cafe a couple of weeks back, there was a couple of STs charging about. One blue one and one white one racing up and down the road outside, man they were stuck to the road round the corners, very impressive to watch! Dont know if they were on stock suspension or not, didnt look overly low and both sat at the same hight. Nice little motors, the mrs wants a new car next year, might have to have a closer look at them.

At Briskoda How Fast a stock ST with just the Mountune 215bhp factory backed upgrade was quick enough round the track to come third out of around eighteen Skodas, most of them modified.

The secret of the car is the speed it carries though a corner, which is very impressive for a FWD hatchback.

A turbo swap will see 280-300bhp which will run on the stock engine internals.

There are already kits out there and people doing it.

Exactly, which is where all the fun is, especially if it can be enjoyed at sensible speeds on the road. The look of them is growing on me, wasnt sure on the fish mouth at first but it's not awful. See what happens next year, she wants a S3/TT but something like a ST could be worth getting her to at least go for a spin in.

I believe Puma Sport offer said 300bhp mod, again on standard internals. A chap at work is looking at going down that avenue, although its a week old and hes unsure about its warrenty implications :D

It's a Peron bolt on kit and all the decent Ford tuners are doing it now.

300bhp in a 1,200kg car.

F me that's going to be mad if it spools well.

Like my APR stage 3 Yeti, but 200kg lighter!

Go on :P

you know you want to ;) Provided you still have it that is! :D

It does look like it finds its boost a little late to me. Would be interesting to compare torque/power (graphs)  with standard.

Looked at the Fiesta ST as a replacment for my Fabia.  Unfortunately, my foot did not fit between the centre console & the clutch pedal, and it was just a little too small for my 6'4" frame.  Tried a lot of other motors in trying to find the replacement, but settled for a Cupra 280, which is absolutely bonkers.

So, Bossfox...

Just how tempted to tune the ST beyond Mountune are you? Haha.

300hp would be a welcome increase, right? ;).

 it's perfect how it is, too much power would reduce the fun

IMO having driven one it's got such a good setup and is so fun you wouldn't want to do any more as then you might lose the brilliant balance as a lot of components would need uprating

Increasing the power really means uprating the brakes and suspension.

While it would be quicker the stock car has such an amazing handling balance I'd be worried about losing that.

You could just end up with another modified quick FWD hatch.

In all the tests I've seen the Fiesta is slower than it's competitors in a straight line, but noticably quicker on a track.

Suggesting it carries more corner speed than ALL it's competitors.

Ah right. Yeah i know what you're sayin about 'another modified quick fwd hatch'.

Fair shout. Good to know :).

Enjoy the car, they are very nice!
