Screenwash properties...

Featured Replies

Bit of a random one this one, but does anyone happen to know some of the properties of screenwash?!?

More specifically, does it react when continuously sprayed on aluminium, painted steel and plastic?

I've had an idea that may benefit Joel and myself that's all...! (and other rear wiper-less people...!)

My guess would be that different brands may vary, I've got some German stuff that works down to -60 degrees when it's neat.

I'll have to do some research on Google mate....   Just thought I'd ask on here first!

As I run no rear wiper, I'm thinking of rigging my rear washer switch up to dual jets to help cool my intake temps. A makeshift intercooler spray if you will!

Failing that I could always just buy a setup I suppose. There's some cheap ones on eBay after a very quick search...

lots of alcohol or alcohol type substances, plus scent, some water.

Could you do it so that it gives a spray when your at full throttle?

Rather than have to press a button or something, that would be good and a decent sized tank aswell, the screen wash one is annoyingly small already :(

there's a very easy to follow upgrade on here :)

Yeah we were discussing something akin to that earlier....  I'm thinking that it may run out very quickly though!! Unless you could just arm and dis-arm the system that is.

I wonder what the practicalities are of getting such a mod to work though??? Anyone shed any light on how you'd get it throttle operated neatly?!?

My top boost pipe stays ice cool...:)

Just saying haha.

I thought about this myself but with a separate washer bottle. Honestly think you wont gain anything though

Here's an idea....

An air temperature sensor fitted to the pipework that fires the system when it reaches a pre-determined temp....

I was having heat soak issues on the rollers earlier today. Even with a full Forge FMIC setup....

If similar systems are fitted to many turbo petrol motors as standard, surely it must do something...?

You mean xenon upgrade? Like twice the size, I've been on the look out for one.

no, washer bottle upgrade to a 5litre washer bottle. Look in the really useful section.

You can get boost pressure switches that do just that. Set the switch to activate when you get to a certain boost pressure.

Good idea :)

I'm not sure if the ECU has any spare outputs,if they have you could get it operated by the ECU ;)

evos have a switch down by the handbrake lever as standard for intercooler spray, pretty sure some imprezas run intercooler spray too.

all the cars on the RR yesterday ran less power on there later runs, with Joels losing circa 30bhp IIRC.
