Making the best of what I've got...

Featured Replies

Afternoon folks,

Excuse me if some of this is covered elsewhere but I'm feeling like poo and searching is beyond me just now!

I should be taking delivery of my new white O3 vRS very soon (sick bed allowing) and I've told them not to try and valet it this time so I'm needing some advice on what other bits and bobs I might need.

I really just want the paint as clean as possible and left looking all glossy and shiny B)

Having never had a white car up til now I'm not sure how well waxing it will work as I know they can be difficult to make really glossy (unlike black)

My intention is to spray the panels with fallout remover (actually Bilt Hamber auto wheels as it's safe for paint and has some surfactants too) then clay it (no BH stuff in my garage but the Mrs did buy me some super natural stuff a while ago that I've yet to use).

Now, the question is do is use the Dodo juice lime prime I have sitting around before the next stage or skip it as the paint is new?

Also, would it be worth using a sealer type product rather than waxing and would it give the results I'm after?

Also planning on getting Gtechniq I1 for the seats etc.

I'm sure folk will have suggestions for better products but as I "need" a dog guard & boot liner and there's an anniversary looming and both my folks birthdays I really need to be doing as much as possible with as little outlay!

Oh, last thing. What's the best stuff to use to keep the gloss black plastics on the door pillars scratch free??

Cheers!

I would use lime prime seen as you have it to hand and then wax the car, a Dodo Juice Panel Pot (£6) will be cheap, a good companion to lime prime and cover the car several times over.

I have gloss black plastic on my Fabia and it is hard to keep perfect as simple every day driving and washing will swirl it up, I used a glaze/AIO on mine to improve the appearance as best as possible and then sealed them, but the material you are working with isn't great, so best just accept that in time it will mark up a little.  If you had infinite resources there are a few sealants which may help it's up to you if you want to spend on them

Cheers for the reply,

I used a panel pot on my last car and have an unused one sitting but it's purple haze (I think) and kinda want my car staying white!

I have just looked at a few videos of the gtechniq stuff and seeing as I've got access to a jet wash at work it's looking pretty tempting. Especially as it can be used on trim.... Also looks less work than a wax. As much as I used to like spending a sunny day cleaning and waxing my car, realistically it never seems to be sunny when I've got a free day off!

Hmmm,

Ok order so far is just for Auto wheels and the I1. Is it wrong I'm disappointed not to be spending more?!

If you have supernatural hybrid that's like a wax sealant so it will have decent protection too and should look quite good on white, I had a candy white yeti before and the best wax I found to give it a wet look was Auto Glym HD wax

And if you fancy doing a swap for something I have some in the swap zone

Either way good look with it, you will find the right products over time that work for you.
