Cat D

Featured Replies

I've never been clear as to what the position is with insuring Cat D cars? Will insurers generally cover them or are some picky? Will the premium be higher?

Talking generally, it'll depend on the individual insurer. But as far as we're concerned, we'll happily quote you (subject to the VIC test being carried out). Premiums do tend to be higher for Cat D write-offs but we can respond to any quote you have had if you meet the rest of the club scheme criteria.

Cat D doesn't require a VIC

Sorry MOT. We need an MOT Cert.

Thanks - useful to know.

Never had any issues with a Cat D as long as it's got an MOT.

Which you should get anyway before putting it back on the road.
