jumping ship

hi lads,

im getting rid of my manual bmw 530d 2004. just cant handle to maintenance bills anymore, seems im spending a fortune on keeping the car going. iv looked at a 2007 Octavia 2.0 tdi dsg and just want to know what mpg I can realistically expect? im getting about 43/44 mpg from the 530d, mostly motorway and some a roads. iv also looked at the 1.9 tdi manual but worry it will be too sluggish? the 2.0 tdi dsg has 60k miles on it, should I expect to budget for maintenance work in the near future or should I be sound? doin 14k a year
