2010 Yeti 2.0TDi (110) SE - Retrofit Amundsen

Featured Replies

Can I ask for VCDS help please!

I retrofitted a second-hand Amundsen (RNS310 V4) today.  Previously I was using the factory fitted Bolero + retro fitted VAG bluetooth add on. I was anticipating some issues in connection with VCDS requirements. So far, the situation is:-

1) Sat nav works fine with dash mounted GPS antenna (Great!)

2) Maxi dot won't show navigation details (anticipated)

3) Bluetooth connects with phone and shows detail on maxidot but Amundsen doesn't have phone function.

4) The phone rings to car speakers via bluetooth but the call voice doesn't come through the audio.

I guess the Amundsen needs to be programmed in via VCDS.  I knocked on local VAG specialist garage today but was advised that their system can't program the audio system.  Can someone please advise me if there are companies or individuals in Northampton / Milton Keynes area who might be able to assist me?

Any comments / views appriciated.

I thought I'd share my experience with briskoda guys.  This might be useful if anyone tries to carry out similar task.

I took the car to my local dealer "Progress Skoda Northampton"  Guys were really helpful to integrate my newly fitted Amundsen with maxi-dots displaying navigation data etc.  Only the problem was to get the phone button working.  Everytime phone button is pressed, the stereo mutes without displaying the phone function. (I have VAG bluetooth add on module fitted - most of Amundsen + RNS315 won't need this as the module is inside of the unit)  I don't know how true it is but I studied that dealer VCDS won't let technicians to modify certain parameters on canbus.  This is VAG intention to keep cars as factory original as possible.  After taking the car to Milton Keynes Skoda, a technician there told me the same thing.  I was then introduced to an Audi tuning specialist "Richter Sport" in Milton Keynes who are equipped with VCDS.  Guys were really helpful plugging their VCDS into my car straight away to see there are any coding can be done.  We couldn't figure out where to enable the phone button function tick where the chap said he has encountered similar problem fitting bluetooth module to VW RNS310 (which is effectively VW version of Amundsen).  After coming home, I researched on web if there is any solution.  Bingo! here is the solution. It's the firmware!!!.

My Amundsen is :-

Part No: 3T0035191

VW software version :0227

System Hardware Version : H15

By pressing "SET UP" button for about 5 seconds, this information will appear on the display screen.  VW software version 02xx won't have phone function other than just muting the sound.  Updating the software versions to 03xx onwards will solve the problem.   Units with part number 3T0035191 is relatively earlier version and later ones will be 3T0035191B or similar with alphabet at the end.  3T0035191 can only officially be updated to software version 0235. This won't have the phone function but there is a way to update this with 03xx version of software.  All I could say is to search for RNS310 firmware update download.  It will require burning few CDs installing updates in steps.  Mine took 3 updates to install software version 0351 each step taking 40~45 minutes approx.  Now the phone function is fully working.

I hope this helps
