RPM problem?

Featured Replies

Hi

I drive a Skoda Octavia 1.6CR on a 10 plate.

Is it normal for my car to sometimes tick over at 1000rpm and other times at around 700rpm?? I'm a Taxi Driver so car running for most of the day but sometimes during day it ticks over higher at 1000rpm.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

might me doing a regen when stationary so keeps the revs up rather than the dpf light coming on

Could be throttle pedal or coolant sensor

A scan should identify any problems

Hopefully someone on here with VCDS might do you one… for beer tokens :)

Constantly or sometimes. More times at 780 correct

I had it plugged in the other day because airbag warning light came on but didn't pick anything else up.

It's the DPF performing a regeneration.

700rpm is normal, 1,000rpm is an effort to maintain heat in the exhaust system so that the regeneration can complete. It'll only raise the idle speed for so long and unless the requirements for a regen are resumed it will give up until the parameters are once gain met.

Next time the idle rises to 1,000rpm take it for run if you can so that the regen can complete.

Silver, does your scout raise the idle speed when on a regen? Mine doesn't, even with the light on doing a regen idle will not go above 900 rpm?

Keep an eye out for rising engine oil levels.
