Uprated rear anti-roll (sway) bar

Featured Replies

I'd like to fit better RARB but I'm on a very tight budget.

Do you know of any "factory standard" RARB of the VAG group which could do the job? I could try and find a 2nd hand one from a scrappy or buy a new one if it's much cheaper than those 3rd party items.

i tried to find and oem upgrade ie a thicker bar from elsewhere in the vag range but i couldn't find one (not that there isn't one, just that i couldn't find the right info).  TBH these are not expensive items so even if you could find an oem replacement there potentially isn't much to save.

edit:  just realised you have a 1.6, in which case you will prob find that the vRS bars are thicker/stiffer than what you currently have, in which case you could maybe just get a secondhand vrs jobbie?

This "could" be a solution... but... I thought VRS have a totally different kind of suspension. Is the RARB similar (i.e. same shape and fitting) to mine?

Even if it is, I'm afraid finding a 2nd hand VRS RARB here in Italy would be very difficult (almost all Octavias sold here are the diesel 1.9/1.6 and a few 2.0-140).

I was more like finding something from VW, maybe the Golf? (lots of GTI/TDI/GTD here) or maybe Passat.

A standard vRS RARB would fit absolutely fine. No significant suspension changes between models, not in design anyway.

You may be thinking of the Mk3 Octavia, which does differ in suspension design between std models and vRS.

Just had the H&R rear bar fitted to my FL petrol vrs estate.

What's the part number for the rear bar alone or was it a part of the whole kit?

I bought it on its own from AKS. I'm sure Alex quoted the part number to me, but I don't have it on me, and won't be home until Tuesday evening. I paid £180 for it and £60 for fitting by a local garage.

Resurrecting this a bit. How easy are these to fit yourself? I've got a facelift VRS and was thinking either White line or H&R

Bubba - essentially it is just bolt off / bolt on job that takes roughly an hour with all the right tool( providing you have no seized bolts)

Anyone got 5 minutes to take a quick picture of how it (H&R( looks under the rear of the car - would help with diy fitting - thanks

it'll look just like your OEM rear anti roll bar, only cleaner (and blue IIRC).

Thanks Rob, I've fitted a jabba one to my fabia, that was a quick "bolt on" job.

I wasn't sure if it'd have been the same on the Octavia (hence request for an image).

Looks like you bolt the original one off, and bolt the thicker one on (if I've assumed correctly).

Thanks !
