14 PLATE

Featured Replies

Saw my 1st 14 reg car today a white Audi TT heading west on the A75 at Castle Douglas. Not sure why white cars have had a resurgence. My dad had an Orion Ghia Injection in 1987 that was white, it was a popular colour then and should have stayed in the past.

Makes cars look like a bland fridge on wheels IMO.

I would like a TT though!!

I was surprised to see a 14 plate Fiesta and a Corsa driving around on March 1st before 9am.

Clearly "new plate" fever is working well for car dealerships.

Saw a 14 red /black  embellishments Merc ( NOT SURE OF MODEL) which flew passed me ,in the outside lane of the 2nd Severn cross bridge  (bloody awful weather conditions).

Obviously desperate to get back to Wales.

Have seen a white Focus (neighbours! and saw a '14 Range Rover Sport on Saturday lunchtime.

Range rover evoque was my first spot, 10am saturday. Nearly didnt see it's first day out as the **** cut me up (in a bus) and nearly got rear ended.

So far I've seen:

Sat: Merc GL, Merc E-coupe, Range Rover

Sun: Merc A-class saloon, LR Disco and, I kid you not, a Ford Mustang

Today: Only a 3 series

So times are not hard in the Cheshire triangle.

The real proof of the pudding though wil be sighting commercial vehicles now that we are in the working week. That is the true barometer of prosperity.

I've got six Vauxhall Movanos due in a week.

But they are all financed and will pay themselves off, so not sure the plate is much of an indicator...

Funny you mention that - the driver of RRS I saw was driving like a complete pillock too!

Exactly.

Business tends to be a sign of investment, personal tends to be consumption.

And gawd knows we need investment, not consumption.

Saw a 14plate octy vrs today which looked tasty

There was a thread in the Octavia III section of a new owner collecting his 14 plate vRS at midnight.

Apparantly the dealer opens up late specially for the eager beavers who can't wait til morning!

Drove a 14 plate Q3 down to Swindon today then collected a 14 plate R8 V10 plus Spyder and drove it back to Maidstone,

As an aside we had 44, 14 plate cars go out on Sat, was a very busy day. Still have another 150 to go out this month.

Just spotted a 14 plate Yeti.

Parked in my dad's garage :D

You sure it wasn't an Octavia/Rapid and it was jacked up?

We must still be in the dark ages here in Whitby. It's the 4th of March, and I haven't see a 14 plate yet!

Mike

That's probably a sign you are more sensible with money. :giggle:

I'm not an age plate snob,  Q plates are more sought after and exclusive :giggle:

I saw a few on Saturday in inverness but then I was driving on what is known locally as Car Alley... where almost all the dealers are.... (only car dealer that isn't there is the Kia/Nissan/Suzuki which are on a site on the other side of town)

There were four 14s at the supermarket on Sunday including mine. I don't think I've seen another on the road since then though.

Seen quite a few. First one was an X5 filling up on the 1st mid-morning.

Talking about prosperity,I wander how many of these 14 plates are actually owned bought and payed for as opposed to lease hire and bought on the never never.I find it hard to believe that there are that many people out there can actually go out and pay £30000+ cash for a new car! except maybe for ...ankers in London.

I have been looking at the BMW Baby forum as have been thinking about a 120d. It amazes me the amount spend on pcp deals. Change cars very often and seem completely ignoant of any overall costs. They will no doubt blame everyone but themselves when they cannot meet replayments.

One of the other Briskoda members stated a while ago that the BMW forum were a bunch of to@@ers I am quite sure he is right.

White is the new red.

Saw a 14 A3 today. Didn't really notice it was the new model, looked much like the old.

Only 14 plate I've seen so far is a Qashqai.
