Octavia VRS Steering Problem

Featured Replies

I have a VRS Blackline (62 plate) have have started to notice the steering is 'notchy' when doing motorway driving. There seems more resistance when initially trying to turn the steering wheel from the straight on position making it difficult to remain in the middle of the lane at motorway speeds. Does anyone have any idea what the causes might be?

Cheers

I had that years ago on a Fiesta, it was down to grit in a universal joint in the steering column. Alternatively it could be an overtight or ungreased bearing that is sticking (I don't know how the steering column and rack are put together on the Octavia), or it could be as mundane as tyre wear, tyre pressures or tracking being out.

Has the car got Skoda Drive Assist? the system for encouraging drivers to keep out of the middle lane?
