SHOULD OAP's BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE FABIA vRS?

Featured Replies

Oaps should be fine in a vrs.

Pretty hard to burn the clutch out compared to a manual isnt it ;).

  • So many Young Gits in Sensible and reliable cars on here. Some getting their thrills on 2 wheels.   They seem to forget the Oldies have been there got the T-Shirt and survived it, and now get cheap

  • As I am now, so shall you be one day. Will you think the same then? Relegated forever to a sporadic slowbus service bus service.I think not

  • I'd rather see an oap in one than a 19yr old with a lead foot and visions they're the next urban F1 champion

I've suspected for some time, and now I have the proof.....this forum is infested with old gits  :dull:  :dull: ...the site should be renamed OAPSKODA.NET  :giggle:

Haha. How old are you xman?

Spent their youth not paying stupidly high insurance premiums for anything fast on 4 wheels you mean haha.

Lets be honest. Skoda's ARE an old mans car. No self respecting person under 40 should be seen dead in one! They are what I would call " sit up and beg cars" & they certainly don't merit any street cred, even in their vRS guise. I mean they are never going to win a beauty competition, are they?

Seems strange therefore so many young people on this site seem to drive one, and then have the audacity to criticize us oldies. Personally, when I was their age I used to drive E types, Jensen interceptors & others of the same ilk. Now they WERE real cars, requiring driving by REAL MEN. Not like the big girls blouses now.

& driven by real women,. Mostly by women i seem to remember.

They would be of the age to be on here maybe, but that type of girl would not be seen dead in a Skoda now,

so the potential Toyboy types here will be going without probably.

Ummm... No. Not if a boggo spec mark 1 is too much to handle...

So a 'quick' one with an auto box is a big no-no.

OAPs can drive anything just so long as the incontinence pants are in place.

That Silver Mk1 might have had a wee hop up & power boost by the 72  year olds grandson/granddaughter that drives it as a 'named driver',

caught Nan out,

its clutch never felt like that last year when she took it in for its annual service.

Says something about the construction of the Skoda! Look at the house, and then the car - barely a scratch on it.

Assume some posts have been deleted, as we seem to have gone from harmless banter to Kebab Knifings.  Which is a real shame as instead of carving up Brisky members, it should be removing fine sheets of meaty deliciousness from some reconstituted goat on a skewer.

.................................mmmmmmm hungry now.  :hi:

Im 25 and bought my car from a dealer but the salesman who was easily 60+ literally had sold the car to me before we got back tocthe dealers from being picked up from the station. Ive never been so full of adrenaline in my life. And it was only a mk2 vrs. Completely agree that the generations before mine had the better start to their driving lives... without the airbag with wheels that are released nowadays. My dad still drives a mk1 escort and 'has far to much fun in it on the way to the butchers' (he lives down a really good driving lane)

OAP's (and those close to it) are odds on going to be better drivers as long as certain standards havent slipped. Had a little go from the lights with a chap this morning in a jaaag. He collered me at the petrol station with the remark 'ill have you next time' you cant argue with a hunger for going faster/harder. No matter what age/sex etc

Had a similar experience with a guy last Saturday in a Merc SLK 350 (you know the sort, freezing cold, with the roof down). I'd beat him away from the lights a couple of times, on my way to Morrisons (just past the dealers, you got your car from Grinch). When I got to Morrisons, he pulled along side me & came over (that central locking went on quicker than a ferret down a drainpipe.) No worries though, - he just wanted to know what make of car it was (mines debadged).

He couldn't believe it was a Skoda. Even less could he believe it was only 1.4L

Yeah ive had a few people asking me what car/litre it was. One guy shouted at me across the petrol station a few weeks ago "thats not going to be as fast as mine" thats the day I found out the fabia vrs is faster than the new gt86. Well that one with that driver. He followed me into drive thru and had to get my manual out to prove it wasnt a 2litre because he was 'not happy' my 1.4 skoda was faster. Didnt tell him it had super and turbo power.

And with a cheeky remap you'd be packing another 35 (ish) bhp

imagne just how upset the GT86/Merc owner would have been then.

You'd have left him for dead got your shopping/drive thru McDonalds and been away before he caught you to confirm your car is in fact a 1.4 :)

Like I keep saying.....flappy paddles.....basically an F1 car.

At least the thread is now unlocked - it had been shut down when I looked early this morning! I've only seen harmless banter on here nothing too out of order. Can only think some dodgy posts went on overnight and as you say have been deleted.

I'm enjoying this thread really - makes a nice change from reading about oil use and headlight bulbs! ;-)

Soon as my warranty expires (assuming I dont expire first!), I'm going for every mod I can (never did like bog standard) - so watch out Sparkly.

As it stands at the moment it appears if I fart in it without their permission, bang goes the warranty.
