Well... I'm thinking of buying a Yeti

Featured Replies

I do less than 10,000 miles a year (some years maybe even just 8,000 miles) and have never ever had DPF problems with my Yeti. Granted I never drive to work and back but plenty of out and about shorts trips in London with the occasional long motorway blast with the car alone, or a trailer or caravan on tow. So unless you really just do constant 2 or 3 mile trips with the car there is really no issue getting a diesel if you do even less mileage than I do...  Just factor in a decent blast every now and then. The extra cost I paid for the diesel is the price I pay for having something with some oomph that goes when I put my foot down - be that on it's own or with the caravan etc. It still amazes me how much oomph this car has even with a ton+ of snail behind it.

I will second that.  Exactly our experience!

At least you're very close to one of the best Skoda dealers in the country - Neil Simpson in Colne.   Neil was on the SUK dealer marketing group that was responsible for the Fabia "cake" ad. Going b

I discounted the diesel initially down to the cost of the cars. But now I'm pleasantly surprised as to the resale value of my car it opens up new possibilities.

Ideally, like us all I guess, I'd like the most powerful car with the best fuel economy at a low price.

If it helps, the Skoda main dealer windshield price of the 9 month old CR110 2WD SE Plus I bought last month was £16k.

As I traded in, it's hard to know exactly what I got it for (I.e. as the cost to change was negotiated down, I can't tell if they were increasing the value of my trade-in or reducing the price of the Yeti), but either way there should be some excellent nearly new Yeti within your grasp.

At last - someone who is being honest regarding the confusing subject of trade in prices/discounts.

Some buyers think they are getting a discount and a good p/ex. It's all smoke and mirrors I'm afraid.

The price to change is all that matters, no matter how the dealer dresses up the deal verbally or on paper to make you believe you are getting both.

Just for reference, I got £15k on a private sale for my 1 year old 110 SE Urban with 7.5k miles, so £16k from a dealer for same age/similar model sounds spot on.

I agree with the 2 comments above. Bottom line for me is how much is the car screen price and how much do I have to put to it after trade in. "X" - "Y" = "Z" no matter how you dress it up.

I'm driving this one on Saturday, so it'll be interesting to hear the figures they come up with.

Mine's going in to Simpsons either on Friday or late next week, so you could get a nice blue one...

I have been looking round to see what deal I can get for a new L&K.

I have spoken to 3 dealers, one will give me £500 over book price for each of the 2 cars we have- Fabia 1.2 SE+, & a FL Octy Vrs Diesel- both low milage & nothing off screen price .

Another will give £1250 for the 2 cars + £1000 of screen price

A 3rd would not give me any figures.

Someone i know who is also considering buying an L&K used carwow & got £2500 off screen price, but no quote on any PX.

The general consensus seems to be a reluctance to take anything off screen price unless they really have to.

And to be honest, why should they when they can sell every one they get.

It's called "market forces"!

I agree Graham.

But strange that so many people on here seem to be getting up to 16% discount (with no trade in) either through a broker or direct with dealer. That figure seems to reduce to around 6% when finance was taken, albeit when it was at 0%.

When a p/ex is involved, you are not in so strong a bargaining position, and all the dealers I have dealt with over the years, just offer bottom book as an opening figure for negotiation, after asking you what you want, in anticipation it may be lower than the figure they have in mind. All I am interested in is "how much to change", as I already know what the bottom trade price is before hand, so have a good idea of the "worst" deal I will be offered before haggling.

Never once have I got a discount and an over book p/ex. Some may fall for that ruse, but the dealer will dress it up to tell the customer what they want to hear. A £1000 discount and bottom book p/ex, is the same as list price and a £1000 over book p/ex, and the same as £500 over book and £500 discount. Some customers just like to think they have beaten the dealer and got a discount and a good p/ex. Sorry - does not happen.

Price to change is the only figure that matters.

Is there really anyone likely to be reading this here who would think otherwise?

Plenty I'm afraid, although maybe not on this particular thread.

Point I was illustrating is why do people harp on about getting a "good" trade price and a "discount".

And the test drive gets ever closer .............

Well?

If one of the features is a well, then walk away. They aren't trying to sell you a Yeti, they're trying to sell you a mk1 Fabia with leaky door seals.

Deposit paid ,well over book price offered for mine too :-)

As I'm buying my Yeti sight unseen from them, I'm encouraged.

OK an update.

I was quietly impressed with the test drive. I took the car on my route to work overs the moors on Skipton Old road from Colne to Skipton.

The car obviously wasn't as powerful as my vRS (what else would be). But for 90% of the time it was powerful enough. The other 10% being overtaking where the opportunity is limited. The DSG box is a nice addition as is the Columbus sat nav. I couldn't find the Maxi Dot reset button to zero the MPG and so couldn't check this. I was however impressed enough to buy the car. I was given £750+ above book price for mine and so I'm a happy bunny.

I take delivery on Monday.

I've ordered a set of mats and I'm going to try to squeeze a Yeti plush toy thing out of them.

The car is Corrida Red & I've had a quote for £140 to "Wrap" the roof black.

What was the final model & pre of FL ?

Did it surprise you as well how much like a car it actually drove ?

Brilliant news!  Glad you liked it!  And £140 for the roof sounds a bargain. Bet that place won't ever charge that again after doing it, as I heard it takes a fair bit longer than most places (without Yeti experience) thinks!

I don't know what FL is? Face Lift I guess.

The car is a 2010 60 Reg. And I was surprised at the way the car drove. Like I say it'll never compete with a vRS but I didn't expect it to. It did corner very well in comparison on the twisty bits though.

FL is Facelift.

The new model that has the front end that looks like the Octavia/Rapid.
