1.2tsi no longer chain cam ?

Featured Replies

May have read this wrong but honestjohn website quotes the 1.2TSi to be belt driven not chain from 2013  (mentions EA211 whatever that is...revised engine ref??).

Am I reading it wrong??

The Octavia III has the new generation petrol engines code EA211, which are all 16v and with belt driven cam systems. Not sure though if these have found there way into Yeti FL, was under the impression that the older EA113 petrol engine designs were still being used due to the continued use of the old Golf V derived platform.

What is FL?

Yes, the Yeti still has the older chain-driven TSI (as do the Rapid, Fabia and Roomster)

I can confirm it's still CBZB chain cam. Just lifted the bonnet on our week old yeti to double check.

Re-assuring.

Would have been better still if they had tweaked the engines (emissions rather than performance). I'm also assuming the plug leads and turbo issues are long gone. Seems HonestJohn.co.uk not completely reliable source.

Shame air con rad is not better protected with the new wide open grilles.

Note seems to be no further info on the DSG (Wrong oil for electrics) issue which may or may not affect the Yeti. Again no news is good news.
