Twin turbo?

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever tried a twin turbo setup In their vrs?

is it even possible? Or would it not be worth it?

Darkside's 4 motion golf have a compound turbo setup, which is basically a small turbo for low down revs and a huge turbo for higher revs, very costly thow lol

Not sure it would be worth it with a diesel.

Not a small one ne way.

Have a go.

Saab do a twin turbo diesel don't they? Unsure of engine size but I can't imagine it being much more than a 1.9 and the new 1 series do a 2.0 TT diesel I think, so it must be worth it some how ;)

BMW 123d is a 2.0l twin turbo derv, very good engine apparently that drives more like a petrol.

Lol yea I know and it works well but they were designed for it.

The fabia isnt and the cost would out weigh the benefits on this car personally?

What gains do you see with twin turbo?

450bhp ish on their site

The gains would be to have a big turbo for high end power/revs then a little turbo that spins up quickly for low revs to fill in the gap of the big turbo taking to spin up.

Either that set-up or two big turbos with lots of lag then huge boost!

Or 2 smaller (and hence less laggy) turbos to achieve a given mass air flow.

Except from two turbos what else would be needed for it to work? Different manifold??

4wd, as it will just spin on the spot probably.  :giggle:

:D the darkside one is 4wd lol

Would be pretty sweet to put a tiny one on and have max boost from idle lol.

I saw black smoke drifting's Mercedes has like 700Nm at 900rpm LOL.

Thats what im saying lol, fabia needs adapting lol

I am always surprised that no one has produced a supercharged diesel yet. I have seen them on marine 2-stroke diesels, but never for (4-stroke) cars.

Que the BossFox build thread!

I didn't think the fab would have enough room for a supercharger??

Mercedes have made them for years.

You can do alot of work to the older 6 pots, compresser & twin chargers go give something like this:
