Columbus equaliser

Featured Replies

I find the treble rather harsh on my Superb 2013 using the tone controls.

I would value an equaliser.

This function is listed on page 25 of the manual after "acoustic feedback" whatever that is.

Anyway on my unit that is the last listed function and I cannot find EQ settings or Surround as listed.

Am I missing something?

Anyone.

In the newest Columbus manual (11.2013) 'Acoustic Feedback' has been re-named 'Confirmation Tone' which is more descriptive as all it does is make a beep whenever you touch a 'button' as confirmation that you actually did it right.

Regarding a graphic equaliser function - I had to pop out to my car to check - there isn't one on mine even though the manual talks about 'EQ settings' and 'Surround'. Maybe that's just in the latest 'MIB' versions of the Columbus? It doesn't appear to be firmware related as I have recently installed 5270. All I have (and you I suspect) is the ability to fine tune Treble, Mid-range and Bass.

BTW - up to date manuals can be downloaded from http://new.skoda-auto.com/en/mini-apps/owners-manuals/superb

I've got some back to 11.2009 if you want to match your vehicle year.

Mine from Sept 11 also doesn't feature this "feature"! I too was scratching me head last night trying to make the EQ pop-up appear!

I had this option when I had my MY59 superb, which had the upgraded sound system and gave surround sound and other options,

Perhaps these are only available with the upgraded sound system?

Out of interest, did anyone find a solution for this? I have just upgraded my swing to a columbus and the treble is piercing. Manually controlling it does very little bit to mess the tone levels up completely. Very annoying considering the hefty price tag associated to then.

Do you have the Balance/Fader option under the "Tone" settings, or just Balance?

I have the balance/ fader option. From the limited info I have found. There seems to be an option though Vagcom to do with the db output. I'm just not 100% sure what it needs to change to. I have it booked in with a local audio specialist (with vcds). Hopefully they can figure it out. Unless anyone knows what needs to be changed?

If you have a factory installed sound system then you need to reduce the output from the head unit to the system with settings in VCDS, then the sound system picks up the running of the sound settings. If your car just has standard speakers then you need the full output of the head unit to the speakers. It's possible that some settings in the Columbus are incorrect (as it might've come from a car which had different setup to yours) and these might need changing in VCDS.

It could also be that your Columbus is broke, but given that it's just been installed I suspect the settings are awry.

Mines from November 2010 and has an equalizer in the settings.... Only treble, mid and bass but defo has it.

I’ve recently bought an Octavia VRS estate 09 with Columbus system. I too can’t find the “EQ Settings” listed in The manual. The sound, in particular via an iPod thru the aux input is harsh and shrill. Not quite what I expected from a stereo that’s meant to be an upgrade to the Bolero. The high/mid/low faders don’t correct the issue, rather take the tonal balance completely out. Not impressed. My 09 standard Honda Civic stereo was much cleaner. Had a look at the Kenwood DNX521upgrade mentioned elsewhere in this forum but bit expensive. Any ideas anyone?
