New wheels

Featured Replies

After doing much research on fitting Porsche Boxster calipers to my Octy (the NQSBBK http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/169744-not-so-big-brake-kit-porsche-brembo-4-pot-callipers-on-vrs/) I find that these won't fit under my Neptune alloys without the use of 10 mm spacers. I'm not thrilled about the prospect of using spacers, but will if I have to. Would it be best if I do use them (H&R 10 mm hubcentric ones) to do both fronts and rears of just the fronts?

The second option is some new alloys that will fit without spacers. From the forum people have used Team Dynamics Monza R's and the 18" Zenith's. The 18" Zeniths are too expensive, just over £250 new and I'm not sure I like the look of the Monza's. Yes alloys are very much a personal taste thing.

I have found some BBS CK (18 x 8.0, 5x112, ET44) wheels that don't totally rape my bank account. Does anyone have any experience or know if they will fit over the calipers please?

I have some Compomotive CXT1880s for sale at £450, need a refurb, but they clear Brembo 6 pots without spacers :)

Any pics Brimma? Are they the ones in your signature?

team dynamics pro-race 1.2;s will also clear the caliper without a spacer, that is a light and strong wheel and not too expensive.

or buy brimmas comps :)

the octavia already has a wider track at the front so if you add some 10mm spacers it'll be even more widerer at the front..

Just amended that to how you meant it to read, Rob  :)

Mr AKS Tuning has run 18x8 CKs over a big brake kit for ages. I know he's now using different hubs which may or may not allow him to run a MASSIVE BBK on the front, but I'm pretty sure they would go over the Boxster BBK.

This was the other option if you are dead set on buying new, I've had these with a Boxster BBK and there is LOADS of clearance. I recently sold mine and yesterday came VERY, VERY close to selling my mint Zeniths when I saw something else. There are plenty of sets of wheels out there used, I'm Bryan would do you a good deal on his Comps, he's only up the road as well.

Being serious for a moment, which is very unusual I know, but 'standard' Pro Race 1.2s come in ET45, and they didn't fit over 6-pot Brembos (I suppose there are big brake kits and there are big brake kits) - I had to run them with 3mm spacers to clear the calipers

And because the centre bore of the Pro Race 1.2s is 73.1 (I think), you have to use spigot rings, and there was little or no support on the actual hub

But they will go over the NQSBBK (which seems to be the OP's intended upgrade) and you can get a set of direct fit TDPR1.2s. Mine had the correct centre bore and went straight on without spigot rings. Most of the TD dealers will be able to supply these.

Thanks all for the info. It's not info you can just look up and know if they fit or not. Offset doesn't necessarily tell you anything.

if you're interested, this is how much clearance you get under a neptune with nqsbbk fitted when you have a 10mm h&r hubcentric spacer.

I tried 8mm spacer first and there was not enough room.  HTH.

Also, be aware that if you go with the nqsbbk you should check clearance for your spare.  If it doesn't fit then you might need to swap a rear on to the front and fit the spare to the rear.  not impossible but just a bit more of a phaff at the roadside..  just saying.  :)

This is the clearance under a Zenith wheel.

Re Rob's comment on swapping your spare over, I've had to swap my front and rear and put the spare on the back. Keep a breaker bar in your car and it won't take long.

Did you fit spacers to both front and rear axles?

Exactly what I do at the moment, breaker bar and a 17mm socket in the boot. Comes in handy occasionally.

keep 'em gold!  :D

no, just the fronts to clear the brakes.  these are only winters so i'm not bothered how it looks tbh.  my summer wheels have lots of clearance for big brakes so don't need the spacers.

I have 10mm spacers on front and 15mm on rear

It's taken a while but I have got around to getting the tyres swapped over from the Neptunes to the Compomotives.

I shall be changing the colour when I get them refurbished, but I'm going to wait until I have worn out the PS3s.

Fitted the 986 calipers as well, loads of space behind the wheels, I'll just have to get some bigger brakes :p

There must be around 12-15 mm spare space.

I agree

I agree

Me too...............but then I would  :)

I'll have to keep an eye for you, pretty distinctive now.

Got to to agree with the others on this one, keep them gold.

I'll have to keep a closer eye on the Spotted page.

The colour combination is slowly growing on me. The other half hates it, even more reason to keep them the same
