Fabia vRS Tyre Advice

Okay, I'm finally going to get around to getting some more tyres. Going to get 4 new Toyo T1-R... just wondering what to do with the stock tyres from the rear with 18k on them they aren't ready for the bin yet. Are they actually worth anything though?

Checked out a website through Mytres called tyretest.com.

Pirelli p zero nero came out best of all.

I have just had goodyear eagle f1 on the front. Fantastic grip, especially if you increase tyre pressure to 2.5 bar. However , they lasted around 10, 000 miles!!

They are bloody good tyres. I've had two set now but I'm giving Khumos a run next.

Wierd I was going to try these myself, but just having driven my mates Fabia vRS with the nero's on all round, I'm not sure. The car felt very loose at the rear, it didn't loose grip, but it wasn't at all confidence inspiring. In fact it drained the colour from my cheeks.

Grip was OK, the car rode well, steering was much better compared to my Conti Sportcontact2's, great turn-in, less bounce at the front, nicely weighted, but throw the car into a sharpish corner at 50mph or go round a roundabout, it felt like the rear end was wagging, not spinning but threatening too.

I personally would buy 2 new Michelins and when they next need replacing all 4 should be ready to be changed!

Never had any problem with them at all.

A good heave on the anchors before the corner and then power through - **** loads of grip and traction. Best tyres I've ever used (road leagl tyres).

I like the Conti's for the mileage they'll cover before wearing out, but I don't like their wet weather grip :thumbdwn:

Anyone know what is a long lasting tyre with a balance of wet and dry grip (not necessarily particularly sporting - they're wide enough to overcome most brisk driving regardlesss of tyre choice IMHO)?

Don't get Falkens, **** grip in the dry or wet.

They do however perform very well when braking

I find the bridgestone s02's to be very good in all conditions.

Always had Toyos before the vrs came along, did wonder how good they are on a fabia. May go for them when the time comes could never fault them before

remember there's a new tyre on the spare steel that can be swopped to one of the alloys, so you only need to buy one new tyre the first time from new. :)

i'm assuming it's the same size but it's too wet outside to check now, ;)

Just remembered. You should have a full size Michelin on your spare wheel so get it swapped with one of the used tyres and that means you only have to buy one tyre.

P Zero Neros for me please. Seems I've converted Andy, they are very good tyres, best I've used for all round ability, short of silly "special" tyres
