Hi all,

 

Is it an option (I'm guessing via VCDS) to have auto fold mirrors on unlocking/locking the car?

Nope,

 

It can be done but requires a wiring loom and a relay and both door cards removed etc.

I think Robbo Cop wants the mirrors to fold out automatically when the car is unlocked, ie. as you walk back to the car and not when the engine is started?

 

Yes the SE and above gets the function to fold the mirrors on locking the car (holding down the lock button).

Just tried that Coops, it worked.! They didn't unfold when I unlocked it, what do you do?

Mine unfold on ignition on although sometimes they dont unfold until you drive forward.

They won't. Only fold on locking - when you start the car they will unfold automatically.

 

 

As per Gizmo's post above, if you want to unfold on unlock you'll need additional parts.

I may have misunderstood what you were after.... I thought you wanted them to fold and unfold on their own when the car was locked/unlocked (without holding the button down on the remote)?

If this is what you are after then you need the relay, loom and have to remove the door panel.

If you are happy to keep the remote pressed down for a couple of seconds then yes it will do that now as std

As well as folding your mirrors with the fob pressed on closing, any open windows should also close.  I find this very useful especially when you leave a window down an inch or two and then forget about it

Glad to hear that, also be aware that it doesn't work if you leave the mirror rotary switch in the manual adjustment positions.

Ive always folded my mirrors in when locking the car (visual indication i locked it :think: ) but on the weekend they stopped working. Ive tried the knob in all positions but it makes no difference. The motor works, as when you turn the knob to the fold position they do fold in, just not working through the key fob. Tried my spare key and doesn't work either. It does however make the alarm beep!! 

 

Any ideas on the auto fold, or is it a trip back under warranty for me. Just don't want to look stupid and have overlooked something simple. Im sure I've not changed anything.

A few months ago mine stopped working for a whole day. Started working the day after with no changes from me and have worked fine since.

mine are still not working. Guess I'll have to book it back in a the dealers.

RichieJ: have you tried to reset your window limiters? As if not set, they prevent mirrors from folding. Just run all the windows one by one, down and up while holding the window button all the time.

Absolutley brilliant, this is why I love this forum. Just been out and done as you said, hey presto, they worked   Wasn't a major problem just one of those annoying things. I'd love to know how you guys get your knowledge. Anyhow thanks a lot jozisko, you save me a 50 mile trip to the dealers.
