Anyone tried these,....

I find this very annoying. Plus the fuse box being behind the glove box. Old octy wasn't like this and think it's a shame they have designed them like this

... and have you noticed you can't pull the bonnet lever without opening the (UK) passenger door first? So no reaching across from the driver's seat - a difficult bit of gymnastics anyway. Rotten bit of bean-counting design not to give us a right-hand drive version.

I'm only little at 5'2 (and no super long ape arms!) so absolutely no chance of me even attempting to reach it by leaning across the car pmsl

Personally I feel that is a good design, imagine your passenger accidentally pulling the bonnet release while you're going down the motorway?

But if it was on the drivers side you wouldn't have to worry about it lol

But it doesn't really matter which side it's on as you need to get out to open the bonnet anyway so going to the passenger door is no big deal....  They could have put it on the drivers side, then added the cost on to us.... personally i'm happy with the way it is.

The passenger seat bonnet release thing isnt that new really; the Mk6 Golf im fairly sure had a passenger side bonnet release... pretty sure the Mk5 did too. The MK6 definitely had the LHD handbrake arrangement thats got a number of mk2 Octavia owners a bit peeved...at the end of the day with each iteration of vehicle VAG are just trying to get decent economies of scale and make greater margins on their cars hence a number of LHD design features that dont get (expensively) re-engineered for RHD purposes. After all whist all in all the MQB platform cars are better than their forebears the main advantage to VAG is that they are significantly cheaper to produce.
