Weird electrical problem

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Taxi in Norway that have been behaving quite weirdly.

It's a 2012 model bought late 2011, 4x4 diesel, automatic, estate.

After a short stop, the car refused to start and gave a range of weird error-messages, and would ask for the brake-pedal to be pressed down to start(it was pressed down).

At my local skoda dealer they were puzzled, but they have been searching for the error. Apparently there are some wires under the front-left fuse-box they suspected, but those wires were fine. They also checked signal-wires to and from the control-box under the windshield but they all tested fine.

Then the weirdnes starts, the mechanic removed the relay in the fusebox to test it on a showroom car. The car started up as it should, and when he returned the same relay to mine car, it started up as if nothing had ever happened. Only errorcodes are the ones you get after disconnecting the battery.

The mechanic is puzzled, and suggested that it might be the control-box, but were uncertain if that might be the case.

It should be noted that I live in Bergen that is known to be very rainy, and it had been raining and blowing quite a bit before this happened.

Anyways - I am wondering if anyone have any light to shed on this problem?

Hi Malawi,

A lot of post's here about those sort of problems seem to point to faulty main battery's (low voltage etc). Might be worth checking that ...

Best of luck,

Rob

I changed the battery a couple of months ago, and replaced the original one with a battery that has more amps.

Still worth checking though, but I suspect that it's something else.

Fair enough, hope you get this sorted.

Please post your results when you can ...

Best of luck,

Rob
