Brake and clutch bleeding top tips

Featured Replies

So I'm going to bleed my fabia brakes for the first time tomorrow. I've never had a car (knowingly) with a hydraulic clutch, do I need to bleed this too or can I just do the brakes? I don't want to unintentionally put air in the clutch lines!

I've bleed a good few brakes in my time and have my trusty gunston ezzibleed and Haynes manual!

Any top tips (ie fabia happy enough to be done without removing wheels etc?). How had is it to get to the clutch bleed point if I need to? Couldn't see it from above!

You wont need to bleed the clutch unless you let the fluid go so low you cant see any at all in the bottle.

you shouldnt have a problem with the Ezzibleed. Nipples for front + rear are easily accessible without removing the wheels + assuming you have discs all round they are 11mm all round

If you do want to bleed the clutch the nipple is just below the intake pipe to the airbox. Its abit tight with the battery tray but you can get to it

+1 for Gunson's Eezibleed.

I'd bleed the clutch as well since it's so easy to do, that way you'll have fresh fluid in there as well which will give a more positive pedal.

Thanks for all the responses guys! Going to get on with it once the rain gives way! Just to clarify, do you access the clutch bleed screw from above or below?

Thanks for all the advice guys! I managed to blast through it before work yesterday and the brakes are now far more responsive! Most the fluid was as good as black so glad I changed it! Clutch was dead easy too after all, just got the intake pipe out of the way and a good few turns later the fluid bleed through fine!
