Hello all,

I've been offered one on the cheap 97R with 68k on the clock is there anything I should be on the look out for? any common problems at all?

Just like to be armed with some info before I have a look at it.

Cheers

If its got a sunroof have a good look at the seals and empty a bottle of water over it... we had a 98 S estate with one.... 4 sets of seals and it still leaked, sold the car after 5 months of having it!

Certainly wasn't amazing but it hauled its load, we had the car packed to brim with stuff and it still was k on motorway.

I've heard that it's isn't the quickest out there, but then either is the Rover 418 I drive  as long as it last well then I dont mind about it's performance!

I have a 1.3mpi Favorit estate and find it quite a perky little thing.

p.s. My sunroof doesn't leak 94 (L reg)

Make sure it has power steering. It will be a pig at low speed if if hasn't. Fully laden with the family in makes a heavy car.

Mine hasnt got PAS but im a 'burly' chap so it donest bother me much, far less to go wrong (gen PAS rack is about

Cheers lummox and guys

If I have any problems you dont mind me bugging you, do you lummox ;)

Well it hasn't got PAS, it's a 97 R plate which according to the spec sheets on-line it does not have PAS.

I've put a deposit on it and will be picking it up on Saturday, as long as it gets me about and lugs the odd bit of stuff.

Hmmm pimp my felicia?

I'll proberbally spot you now your not on show in that!

You probably will, though I still haven't spotted you yet matey! I think I will have to get some "briskoda.net" sticker fitted straight way though :P

Watch out for rotten suspension spring plates, lower ones on the rear and the one integral with the front strut, if they go the suspension collapses - not a major repair but a good bargaining point.

Mike you need anything you know where I am.

Got some yellow alloys that are taking up space, good tyres. Could allways respray them.

Cheers Mr Fordguy, I'll look out for that too!

Sweet, welcome to the Felicia owners club.

I used to own a GLXI 1.6 estate, was a great car only it struggled at 70MPH+, rattled a bit inside, and the brakes were squeeky.

Cheers matey  have to say I'm impressed with it so far, I dont know why people slate them that much

Got it upto 60 with no problems and my brakes squeek to :D I'll just have to oil them then :P

My brakes squeel to, so do my tyres :D Don't have much difficulty getting to 60, though it does have to work to make it up hills. Oh and it does feel a bit floaty above 80mph.

Other than eating CV boots on a yearly basis (could be my driving) shes been pretty faultless. Still thinking of trading it in for a furbie vrs though.

Mine will get to 70 just no power steering= big arm muscles  Makes driveing fast a challenge to keep the momentum up, trying to plain the road ahead so you don't slow down :)

Funny how cars have change in a few years, the oct'y accelorates faster with the caravan on the back, and is more economical towing, than the Felicia  but there just good fun to drive

with care, skoda white paint is a bit duff, if its gone matt on the roof and bonnet??? live with it, .... sorry. I had a 120L in matt white, and I now have another white skoda 1999 lxi and its gone too :( oh well.

the first felicia I had was a deep red metalic 1995 lxi estate (had to get the side rubbing strips put on looked a bit bare there) she was a good car though and was used daily northampton to leicester for 18 months no troubles at all.

sadly i left her in the UK and after 3 years mum told skoda to just get rid. it was a very sorry state i was told :(

Nope the paint is good all round apart from one wing (which seems like it's had a cheap respray)

Gave it a good polish and wax the other day and it's come up a treat

glad you like it, i was very impressed with how they where put together and performance not bad at all. that estate is actually quite huge too.

fingers crossed you dont get the ticky ticky speedo, all mine have had it :(

I've just given my little Favorit estate to a friend cos she is a bit skint and needed wheels. Sorry to see it go, but it did have squeeky brakes and ticking speedo!!!

JON

I had an old Favorit called Lolly , she was great.

Now I have the diesel hatch called Roxy Foxy Chilli and get an easy 52 per gallon.

Just watch the shockers , they can corrode in the cup.

Had the spring go through the cup on mine straight in to the tyre.

I was lucky.
