Galaxy S4 4.4.2 KitKat Update

Featured Replies

I have the update downloading and historically have been lucky with all of mine, never having had a single issue post update..... But could my luck be about to run out???

Has anyone else already updated and able to scare me off before this download finishes? I have done the normal googling around and read the same old stuff, but I am looking specifically for actual peoples experiences in the UK.

Mine 'coincidentally' doesn't seem my SIM card any more following the update - but could genuinely be a coincidence.

Using a Nokia from 2002 instead...

WOW! That's a new one I haven't seen googling around, hopefully just a hardware fault that you can get fixed under warranty! I have my trusty S2 on standby.

I've updated mine using Kies and it went smoothly and without any problems.

You can also do it using some software called Odin and a firmware file.

Smashing my head against a Vodafone wall of stupidity at the mo unfortunately.

The Jellybean update on my S4 knackered it well and truly, it would crash overheat and pause for 5 seconds EVERY minute! But Kitkat only caused me to lose mobile data which a factory reset sorted.

My wifes S4 updated OK with no issues, as above last update completely knackered it.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)

Update complete, didn't use Kies went OTA. All is well, lost some shortcuts on first boot :( but have sort of remembered where to put them ish.

All seems well, S2 is stood down again.  :whew:

No Flash support in Kit Kat if that'll bother you.

I thought that went ages ago, not just in latest version in 2012 ish?

Updated my S4 the other night - not seen any issues so far from Vodafone or the device.

So far all apps I've used are fine (SMS/MMS, phone calls, music, Chrome).

Nah I had it working on a nexus until KitKat. Not now.

For those of you with a technical flair then if you want to flash or root your device, I would suggest you pay a visit to:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php

Here you will find loads of information on how to do a manual flash or rooting of your android device, including custom firmware.

What makes you think installing KitKat will cause issues???

In technology, have faith young jedi.
