Pd150 conversion ! Advice needed.

Featured Replies

Ok folks, so came into some money and bought a Bora pd150 and  i'am wanting to stick the Pd 150 Arl into my 110 Asv Elegance Vrs Rep, the engine in my 110 is nackered so i managed to buy a Bora pd 150 for a good deal and well now after driving about in the Bora for a week I've finally made up my mind that i want to transplant it from the Bora into the Octavia, i know mechanically what to do but i'am now stuck at the ecu, will i have to take the Boras wiring loom, Clocks, barrel and stick that in the Octavia ? so before i start pulling cars to bits i just want to know what i can and can't get away with, any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated

I'm no expert but would have thought you'd need the ecu and loom

Ecu i would have thought too, but there was a member from Ireland who did this to a vrs with a blown engine, trying to get in contact with him also for advice.

Engine, gbox, drive shafts, ECU, dash cluster, possibly the ignition barrel & loom too.

Thanks Paul, was thinking along them lines, would be nice to have the clocks from the bora as they look nicer, but would want to change the leds to green rather than blue, many sections does the loom split into ? i think at some point tomorrow i'll look into the loom and routing, so i'll take the scuttle off and have a look about

I would swap the hubs, disc and callipers over too, I should think the bora has bigger brakes.

Bora will have 288 front and 232 rear

Fronts are ate caliper so if you get the 312 carrier you can uprate to 312mm

Thought so. You can't go any bigger with the original Octavia hubs and carriers.

As per Paul's above - have a look at PB Brakes as they supply various carriers and a fantastic line linkage kit...

Don't worry lads I've got 288's on it anyways, just need to dig a bit more into the wiring but I've been in contact with dark side developments and they said I can get an immo delete on the arl Ecu

Well just a wee update, done the conversion over 3 weeks ago, transplanted the engine and so on, had a few niggles which have now been resolved, just getting a flashing glowplug light and immo light, but the car is running and boosting the way it should, ended up having to buy a pd 130 smic and pipework but mananged to get that from an other site for £40, so all in all not that bad for the way i want the car

Anyways engine out of the bora, butby this point i alread had it in the skoda, just took the pic to stick it on fb for braking

Engine in with map wire extended (Lecy Tape)

Kept the bora clocks aswell as i liked the dials and the half fis display, excuse the seat airbag, got it for free to go with the vrs steering wheel

And now, me and the dog both happy chaps, and the old engine sitting there

Wasn't actuly all that hard to do to be honest, just had to transfer the lift pump from the bora and relay to power it

Was it originally a 90bhp? Or an actual vrs?

Why not utilise the bora fmic?

It will fit the octavia

In first post, he says its was a 110 :)

Nice job doing the transplant though :D mega difference id say!!

How much are you selling the used coke bottle for in the breaker photo  :D

(I'd say an easy 10 bob to a collector :D   )

it looks like a great job you;ve done there,congratulation....considering the location .

I don't like to repair my car in my parking spot(paid) because of my ****ty neighbours,so I take it miles away where noone gets around me while I;m working

It was a non pd 110,  it's a VRS replica, my grand plan was to have all the looks and the power but none of the running costs

when i pulled it out of the borra i wasn't too sure about it and the boost pipes on the bora someone had attacked them with self tapping screws to hold the pipes together, so this way i know theres no one been tampering with the pipes

Well the way i see it  is, if you've paid for something then use it, it's bought and paid for, ended up outside at 4 in the morning plumbing it back in cause i couldn't sleep lets say the drive was like a football park with flood lights

I would still recommend you try and utilise it

Maybe buy a darkside hardpipe kit for it. That cooler is good for decent bhp.

With a remap you'll be seeing 190bhp and no heat soak

Worth a thought

My plans are to get firad 80% nozzles, decent fmic, then top it off with a gtb2260vk

Mind me asking how you did the front bumper? It is exactly how I want to do mine eventually. It looks like a VRS bumper with the headlight washer holes cut in? Or is it one of the rare vrs bumpers that had headlight washers as well?

Looks really good though mate.

it started life as a normal vrs bumper with no holes, when i bought the car it had a standard non vrs bumper so when i put the vrs bumper  on the car i had to cut the holes into it to accomadate the headlight washers, it's not complicated to do, i used a 20mm holesaw, which you use with a drill, and the washers them selfs are secured with a plate on the under side of the bumper.

Thanks for all the positive comments, thinking now i should have done a build thread

Cheers for the info, that sounds really simple. Unfortunately my washers have lost the plate that goes underneath though :(

The standard bumper looks so boring, and mines a bit ****ed up anyway...I call it my "Battering ram". It's never actually hit anything, it just looks like it has!

you really shouldve...
