Boot Problem on Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi, just yesterday I got a 1.6I  Octavia Ambiente. I love it!  Such a step up from my tiny Fiat Panda, ut there are a couple of little issues.  The remote central loocking doesn't work, but seeing as the red light doesn't flash on the key I'm just assuming that it's the battery so that has been ordered.  The main issue however is that the boot won't lock!  If I put the key in and turn it to the left, it works fine but I assume to turn it to the right locks it.  But it seems a bit stuck and won't turn that way so I can't lock it :/  Do you think that when the remote key works the boot will lock with that?  r do you think the boot lock mechanism needs repairing?  If so, how simple a job is it?
Cheers, David

Mine was stiff and I sprayed the inside with electrical contact cleaner as it dissolves dirt... literally just sprayed it straight into where your key goes

Got a new battery for the key which now works but the boot still won't lock!  Sprayed WD40 in the boot key hole and now if the car doors are unlocked, if I turn the key in the boot to the right it locks the doors but still not the boot!  Any ideas?

sounds like the mechanism might be iffy, though could equally just be full of crud.

wd40 is helpful, but the contact cleaner REALLY works.

The inner boot lining just pulls off, and you can see the mechanism unit,

spray a good dose of cleaner into it and let it work for a while.

then try again. if no joy, theres alot of threads here about fixing / replacing the boot lock ;)

welcome the Brisky Club by the way :)
