Phone connection Columbus

Featured Replies

I just get confused by all the different part numbers available, there's a bewildering amount to choose from  :wall:

No idea if this will work? Or do I need units beginning with 3C8035.......

Most important is what phone you have? Then we can suggest the most appropriate module based on that.

Sounds silly but have you gone into the setup menu and turned BT visability on?

If a module were fitted (it's been confirmed further up the thread that the module isn't present under the driver's seat) then you would see a 'no phone connected' message in Columbus, rather than the audio simply muting when pressed.

iPhone 4.

730D/G revisions would work OK with the iPhone4 (you listed a link to a 730D before).

Also worth PMing Eddie-NL on here, who might have one available, including the loom & mic etc.

Thanks.

The 730C/D version here comes with an Antenna, is that needed?

The antennas are all built-in now, least it is on the 730D revision I have fitted.

I've just been caught out with this with our new 1.8 TSI Outdoor L & K.

It has the Columbus system with phone button, there's a phone button on the steering wheel but neither does anything.

I now find out that I should have order the GSM Bluetooth option at £120.

I'm left with buying the BT kit (VW part 3C8035730D??) at £180 unless anyone knows a cheaper source.

I have just taken delivery of my Yeti Outdoor 179 L&K. I can tell you definitely that it has GSM 2 telephone prep with Bluetooth. I have paired my phone it has uploaded my phone book and streams music to the Columbus. There is a further option available - GSM 3 which adds HFP, iSAP, and UTMS if you want a few extra "Bells & Whistles". For most users GSM 2 is more than adequate.

Thanks.

Modules that need an external antenna, as far as I know, are the premium modules that, among other things, allow text messages to be sent / received via the head unit.

Thanks all. It was all an operator error.

I didn't understand that BT pairing was only via the steering wheel and not via the console, unlike all my previous cars.

A case of RTFM
