is there actually enough room to fit the radio in without cage flush?

the radio goes in without the cage, but is loose and doesnt fit flush.

If u look in the hole you'll see like a plastic H bar

U carefully remove that ( watch the loom )

It will give u clearance

^^^ What he said. I`ve fitted a JVC double din to mine a few days ago, had the same issue, snipped the H bar out, sorted! B)

Where is the h bar on the side or right at the back?

Also the head unit only came with a half cage that the head unit screws to. Is that all I need or do I need a full cage?

The H bar is right at the back. All you need is that half cage you have, that`s the same as I fitted.

Yup, that`s the puppy. I used tin slips believe it or not, probably not the best, but it worked. Just watch out for the loom/wires as Lloyd mentioned as your doing it though.

cheers for the responses, will give it a go tonight. do i need to get rid of all of it including the bigger bit in the middle?

Garden cutters rip that mofo up nice and easy ;)

As said, this H piece has to go - I reached in with a good pair of side cutters and butchered it out, like a bad dentist pulling teeth! :D

It took me about 30 seconds. And stereo fitting became joyous.

Yeah bud

Both sides.

And along bottom

Maximum space
