Fuel Flap Not Locking

Featured Replies

Just discovered that my fuel flap, doesn't lock with the central looking. However, it still releases by pressing the fuel release button inside the car.

Any ideas of how to resolve or is it a garage only job

Thanks.

mmm, the fuel cap is just operated by the button on the centre console.  I am not sure if it makes any difference if the car is locked or not (generally it would not be locked, if you were sitting in the car to press the button).  I'll try and remember to try pressing the button on mine when I can sat in a locked car and report back tomorrow.

Thanks just to clarify the fuel flap can be opened when the car is locked, i.e by just pushing on the fuel flap.

If you mean from outside the vehicle, then that is wrong.  Sounds like the release mechanism requires some adjustment.  It can be accessed from inside the boot...

Yes from outside of vehicle.

Does anyone know how to access the release mechanism and what to check re the release mechanism?

Thanks

Very easy job, just get in behind the carpet on right hand side of the boot, its mounted on a metal plate. I fixed mine first time round by just fiddling with the mechanism, but then it stopped a few months after so took it off, just two screw and pulls out, may just be disconected so see what its like. otherwise unplug and get one from a scrappys and refit.
