How do I know I have ESP?

Featured Replies

As per title, sorry if it seems a stupid question but im new to the world of skoda

I know it has a ASR as there is a button for it, but how would I be able to identify the ESP if fitted???

I didn't receive any owners manual with the car :(

Its a 2006 BLT model

label under the boot carpet with the options codes. I think it's 1AP

really? cheers pal il g look now :)

so i understand ASR was standard on all VRS'S but ESP was optional????

ESP is an option

You do not have it

You have ASR only.

You can spot ESP straight away as the ESP button replaces the ASR one.

Very few cars have ESP

shocking! It should have been standard on this car given its torque/bhp output

anyways this is what appears on my dash when lights are on

As above, my friend Alans old Fabia vRS had it and the ASR button was replaced with ESP.

I prefer ASR to ESP, it has electronic diff locks and that sounds cool :P

That and I thought the ASR got the traction down better on wet days, of which there are many in Ireland. My wifes old Ibiza Cupra had ESP and spun the wheels up alot easier under normal driving.

That what mine does too, thats the icon for the ASR as well as the ESP if equipped.

But its in the corners or if you have to swerve to avoid object when you can really reep the benefits of ESP

im guessing without ESP you would swerve and then turn to jelly :(

Not really

ESP at the time of the mk1 was rather new on the market.

A 130bhp diesel doesn't really 'need' ESP imo

ESP was standard on the 130bhp (ASZ) and 150bhp (ARL) mk4 Golf GT tdi from 2002/2003 onwards, but it was only ever an optional extra on the Fabia vRS.

As above if your car had ESP your ASR button would be replaced with the ESP button.

Mine has ESP. :)

I chose ESP as a factory option when I bought my vRS new in 2004, it was a £400 option.  Was it worth it?  I dunno, but I've not fallen off the road yet.

Had a celica T sport prior to this and ESP/TRC etc were all standard and that was 2002

oh well will have to make do without, BUT I believe ESP should be mandatory on any car over 100bhp

Throttle modulation :)

I used to turn the ASR off completely on every trip. I would do the same with ESP if i wanted to have fun.

Mine had ESP and a button which said so to go with it, it also had seat airbags,

an airbag off keyswitch and cruise. Mine was specced for safety IMO Only thing missing

was the xenons (If I'd specced it)

Me too

130bhp requires ESP?!? surely the terrible handling coupled with people thinking they can race everything on the road makes ESP more of a necessity?
