Monte Carlo headlights high beam do not work

Featured Replies

Hello everybody :) I have 2013 Skoda Fabia Greenline and recently fitted monte carlo projector headlights on my car and long beam is not working. Any help?

How have you wired then up?

The monte uses a shutter, so id imagine it would need some wiring adjustments.

Hopefully somebody with more knowledge on the subject will be along soon though :)

I just connected main cables to the headlights and thats it. I believe that I need to see good electric engineer. But it would be nice to have more information from person who had same problem and fixed it. :)

Yeah. I think an auto electrician would be a good idea too.

You need to some how use the high beam wires to power the shutters i suppose.

Maybe its a new loom job. I dno

Not 100% sure but maybe they need coding in with VCDS.

Did you aquire the ballast aswell?

Not an expert, but aren't the GL's lights seperate dipped and main, whereas the Monte is all in one?

So the wiring would be different?

+1 for above.

Should be able to be sorted by an auto electrician, me thinks but it's certainly not a straight forward swap.

Always a big problem this. If you use search function (I'm not being sarcastic here matey) you'll see no-end of problems with Monte Carlo lights being fitted to non Monte Carlos. I for one had the same problem but high beam worked as it should but when I had my drls/sidelights on it wouldn't flash so I took it in to Skoda which spent a whole day re-wiring everything just so it worked.

Anyone found a solution yet??

Could really use advice on what you changed to make them work

I can also clarify that you can't fix this using VCDS

Yes, sorry I have just been browsing and saw your post now. I’ve converted my green line to the Monte Carlo version headlights here in India and faced the same issue.

Its possible to do and headlights them self have an extra cable inside which needs to be connected via relay to the shutter power which will provide the bulb power when you switch to high beams. I’ve done this and explained it here - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/diy-do-yourself/180348-skoda-fabia-diy-monte-carlo-edition-mods.html

I don’t recall taking pictures of the actual connection and will update his if I find any. Is definitely possible and has been working since.

You can take the connection from the HL connector harness inside the headlight with wire taps or lug connectors soldered in and then use that (power to the solenoid) to power the relay to power the bulb (via a lug connector soldered to the bulb holder).

I had made a harness to do this for both sides with one relay (30A).

Im currently using Xenons (Osram) and they’re good.

Thanks.

Old thread I know but I’ve just realised this myself and it turns out my full beams do work and flash but only if the headlights are on, it won’t work if it’s just on sidelights/DRLs. Do you know what was done? How much did Škoda charge to sort them? Thanks
